I actually had the opposite experience with them. Especially since I will normally drain my oil good before removing the oil filter, placing the pan below the filter to remove it, I have a bad habit of losing my grip on the filter. I have had them fall into the open pan full of oil...lol, talk about splashing, yeah, in a case like that, you WILL get lubricated...lol

Been there and done that.
