If I remember right, fram manufactures several of your typical autopart stores brands. I'll see if I can't find something to confirm this.

I researched wix extended filters. Doesn't look good. It looks like they opened the filter up so that it would go high miles without cracking bypass. It is only half as big as ford performance. So is there a better filter than ford performance? Amsoil recommends the wix filter. Not sure what that is about

For Gen2 Motorcraft FL-500-S filter w/ 6 qts of Amsoil XL 5W-30 Full Synthetic
I would also use an Amsoil EAO17 if I didn't have the Motorcraft.

For Gen1 6.2L: Motorcraft FL-820-S filter w/ 7 qts of Amsoil XL 5W-20 Full Synthetic
Amsoil filter option is the EA011.

...and you know Amway has nothing to do with Amsoil. Although yes, the independent dealers who sell Amsoil products do it via a multi level marketing structure.

Interesting info was posted earlier in an oil change thread. included this link: http://www.bullittarchive.com/5000/5003/Oil_Filter_Cut-Away_Comparison_Kit.pdf

and there's this if you're really geeking out: https://540ratblog.wordpress.com/2013/06/20/motor-oil-wear-test-ranking/

The manual recommends the Quaker State

where are you seeing that?? Not in the Gen2 Manual. 2018 Manual says, "Recommended motor oil (U.S.): WSS-M2C946-A
Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil
XO-5W30-QSP"

and the Gen1 (2012) it's
"•Motorcraft SAE 5W-20
Premium Synthetic Blend
Motor Oil (US)
or
•Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Full
Synthetic Motor Oil (US)"
