I will tell you with some trepidations things can get pretty much out of control here. I will say they could not have tested my sample and I will tell you why. Now in fairness I will say it could have been overlooked, a bad day for the tech or any number of issues on the laboratory side. I can not say they don't test samples, only they did not test mine. Why I know they did not test the sample I sent is we have a catch can that holds 5 gallons of fluid. It gets everything dumped in to it so I take it to get emptied about every 3 to 5 months. Now this particular sample I sent was from the can we had dumped transmission fluid and had caught some water while sitting. So I shook it up and poured about 3 cups in to a clear container.. I used a pre-mix cup and let it sit, oil and water don't mix well and the water separated. I then poured a small amount in to the container provided and sent it off for examining. After a few weeks I received a report back that looked exactly like most reports form people I have seen that have the 6.2 motor. A few numbers were changed here and there to make it slightly different but about the same overall. The comments section was identical word for word I had read on others. Allow more time to go by before your next oil change. I don't know how the test is done or who does it. I filled out the questionnaire provided and believe the results were based on someone else's results. Black stone labs provided the results and I could not understand how the oil change did not reveal the transmission fluid in it. The oil I use in my truck is Mobil one and that's what I said on the questionnaire. What I sent was regular oil and not synthetic so how they ended with the exact results of a synthetic comparison I don't know. I have not sent anything else and I don't believe at least in my case they performed any test...
I did post the results on this thread in 12- 2012.. Not one person has posted any oil analysis that differs by much since either..
Did you ever call them or ask about this? I was going to buy the bulk pack to make it cheaper, do I need to send in the real sample and a tampered sample every time to make sure nobody was sleeping over there? I did my first oil change at 3K and doing another one today at 8K... was going to start doing oil analysis but after reading this, what is the point??
