@Chris@FreedomMotorsports, thanks for the input. I think I'm going to go with Amsoil Signature based on my oil results trend and driving conditions. I figure I might as well jump up to a higher quality base stock along with additive package if I'm going to change at all. Plus, once I'm outside of the powertrain warranty I'm going to do extended drains backed by UOA and I'd definitely use Signature for that. If I switch now, then no need to flush the engine when I start extending my change interval. Probably would never go 25k miles, but I'm sure 10-15k should be doable depending on how my UOA's look.

Agreed. I used UOA enough in the past that I mainly just change mine every six months now. Of course, I have owned my Raptor for right at a year now and have 25K miles of my own on it already, so it averages out to being about the 15K mile mark. As intervals go, that is plenty long enough to get our money's worth out of the Signature Series oil.

I did this on my truck when it was new but I put in old oil that had water and trans fluid in it and the test came back looking suspiciously exactly like two others I had read.. Funny thing it did not mention the water and trans fluid at all.. I have my doubts they are actually testing these things...

Wow, that's pretty bad. Which test facility did you send the doctored sample to?

Would really like to know the lab, and also the type of test run. At the very least they should have noted water. We run around 10 tests per week with Polaris labs and have found them to be very accurate.

I'd like to know the lab in question as well.

I will tell you with some trepidations things can get pretty much out of control here. I will say they could not have tested my sample and I will tell you why. Now in fairness I will say it could have been overlooked, a bad day for the tech or any number of issues on the laboratory side. I can not say they don't test samples, only they did not test mine. Why I know they did not test the sample I sent is we have a catch can that holds 5 gallons of fluid. It gets everything dumped in to it so I take it to get emptied about every 3 to 5 months. Now this particular sample I sent was from the can we had dumped transmission fluid and had caught some water while sitting. So I shook it up and poured about 3 cups in to a clear container.. I used a pre-mix cup and let it sit, oil and water don't mix well and the water separated. I then poured a small amount in to the container provided and sent it off for examining. After a few weeks I received a report back that looked exactly like most reports form people I have seen that have the 6.2 motor. A few numbers were changed here and there to make it slightly different but about the same overall. The comments section was identical word for word I had read on others. Allow more time to go by before your next oil change. I don't know how the test is done or who does it. I filled out the questionnaire provided and believe the results were based on someone else's results. Black stone labs provided the results and I could not understand how the oil change did not reveal the transmission fluid in it. The oil I use in my truck is Mobil one and that's what I said on the questionnaire. What I sent was regular oil and not synthetic so how they ended with the exact results of a synthetic comparison I don't know. I have not sent anything else and I don't believe at least in my case they performed any test...
I did post the results on this thread in 12- 2012.. Not one person has posted any oil analysis that differs by much since either..

This is my first analysis, it was a filter only "change" at 168 miles, needed 3/4 quart of Motorcraft oil to top it off. I cleaned the oil filter drip spout/pan with alcohol prior to removing the filter to make sure I didn't contaminate the oil sample. I swirled the oil in my catch container and filled the sample bottle, I let the remaining oil set overnight in a sealed container with the one end propped up so any solids would settle in the one end. The next morning I slowly poured the oil into another container so I would not stir up the solids. I was surprised at the amount of solids that had settled to the bottom, it was about enough to fill a 9mm case.

This is the second at 1558 miles, it is a true oil change with filter and oil.

My next change and sample will be at around 4500 miles on the truck.
