Ok, so lets say something alarming comes up in the sample. Is it proof enought for ford to warranty or would something have to fail? Just curious what do you do if something was critical?
Something would have to fail if I am not mistaken. That is what testing is for, to warn against what may be happening, but when dealing with dealerships there are two things to consider.
First, all dealers are different and some will be great for warranty stuff while others will be be hard to deal with.
Second, a problem arising could be anything, not all problems will immediately point to the source of the issue. Some will, for example, if you have a coolant leak somewhere in the engine for whatever reason, that constitutes a failure that obviously needs diagnosed and fixed immediately. But if you simply have high enough levels of wear material, say iron or copper, it is harder to diagnose the cause for these and most dealerships will not authorize an engine tear down just for one bad oil sample. They will more than likely say to change the oil and test again to start a trend of regular wear before authorizing a tear down.
So it depends on the dealership as well as exactly what issue the sample results show.
