OEM HID Problem

When I turm on my high beams, everything works fine. But when I try to go back to low beam, it's like the shutter won't move to block the high beams. In essence, my high beams are still partly on, even when I go back to low beam, and I can't figure out why. I have the 2013 model if that helps any. Is anyone else having this problem?

Did you go mid perch? Headlights would be aimed high after that and need adjusting.

the bulb stays the same brightness, the shutter is what gives low or high beam. It's possible that the solonoid has got stuck or maybe something else mechanical in the headlight has failed.

is it both lights, or only one?

Did the truck come from the factory with OEM HID or halogen? Both lights or one?

From day 1 the left headlight on my 2013 HID would be very sluggish to go back to the low beam when cold. The colder it is the slower it would be to return. However as the heat from the light warmed up the shutter it would speed up to normal speed..(same speed as the right headlight).
I agree with the above; most likely something is preventing the normal shutter activity.
Try contacting Raptor Retrofit...Home - Raptor Retrofit - Ford F150 HID headlights one of our supporting vendors for advise on fixing the problem....

Mine did this today....while getting the annual inspection. The right light would go to high beam but stay there. When the lights were cycled it would go back to low...move to high stuck again....think it might be a bad ballast?

I have 4 year old retrofits...so stockers back in to get the rejection inspection sticker off the truck

And yes I emailed Raptor Retro for some new lights......

Yes, they are the OEM HID projectors. The low beams work perfectly fine, and when I switch to high beams they work fine. However, when I try to turn my low beams back on, the right headlight stays in the "bright" position. I'm blinding traffic so I've just had to not use my brights the past month. It's a very frustrating problem. The worst part is, it will correct itself randomly. I will get in my truck one day and it works fine, but 90% of the time it wouldn't work properly. I've since resorted to just not using my high beams altogether, like I said.

Appears I just developed this issue on my 2013 with OEM HID. Drivers side won’t return to low beam. I have to tap the head lamp a few time to get the shutter to move back.

I’ve done some google searching and have learned how the lights work, but not really why it appears to stick. Replacement cost sounds to be north of $1000. And opening it up sounds like I need to bake them for half an hour to soften them up. WTF; Remember when getting high beam / low beams to work was a quick trip to Walmart and a swap in the parking lot?

I’m starting my investigation for solutions here now. Found this thread and was curious what the final result was. If anyone knows, would love to hear it. In the meantime, i’m Going back to searching...

Ok, so the shutter was sticking in mine causing the light not to cycle from high to low and vice versa. Mine was trash caught in the shutter causing the stick. The only way for me to really get the shutter to cycle was to pull em apart. Maybe shake the shit out of em first

One more thing! Yeah pulling the light apart is a PITA. I had a friend do it using the oven, I think!
