How come I can't change any of the options and or color if the truck won't even be produced until November 30th???

If you could see my face, I'm doing that squinting eyes thing as though I don't trust you...

Background on my build...the local dealer (actually the only car dealer on the island who also happens to sell appliances and ATV's) told me she couldn't get me a Focus RS and asked if I would go for a Raptor instead...I said yes, but she then told me the options were already chosen and that I couldn't make any changes to the one she was allocated....

Look in a mirror. Closer. How much white is showing in your eyeballs? My dad always told me that too much white means someone is super gullible......

This chick is yanking your chain. If she's the only one that sells anything, she's being lazy. Tell her you'll trade her 5 extra walrus pelts for the one you want. She'll take it.......

If the truck is already scheduled to be built, you can't make any changes.
If the truck doesn't have a build date yet, than you can still make changes.

It's not like I'd change much to the overall package, in fact the only things I wanted to alter was the color and maybe add the graphics

I'm also wondering if it's maybe because this Ford is 'sort of dealer'. To give background on that, previously I was told by Ford that the leased SUV I had through them couldn't be brought here because the nearest dealer was Anchorage...so as of '14 they didn't even acknowledge that they had a dealer here

Sounds a little rural for comfort. Is this the only place you can get one?

less then 10,000 population...Island called Kodiak...only thing here is the Coast Guard and fisherman

Anchorage has allocations, all full and they're marking up by 15,000

Well, it sounds like you're at their mercy then. If I was you, I'd wait for all the hoopla to subside, ease my way down to the mainland, and get what you really want as far as color and options at a better price than all the 'gotta have it nows'......

And there's the rub...

So she's not asking a dime over MSRP. Also, because Alaska's nuts, the maximum amount I'd have to pay in taxes

wait for it

$52.50. It's some strange city ordinance. No 7% or 10% like I paid in King County (WA state). Nope, $52.50. On all purchases that's the max amount. So if I wait and pass on the truck then it will go to any a number of willing fisherman and by the time I get stationed elsewhere, i'll be paying an actual state tax.

It sounds like they are not a Ford authorized dealer. Maybe they have a connection to a dealer on the mainland and that is how they are getting it. I would make sure they can perform warranty and regular work on the truck as well. It very well could be that the truck in question is to far along to be changed.
