A solid competitor for the Chevy ZR2 would be a wise move. I sat in a ZR2 today, there isn’t any left elbow room for me with the seat all the way back and the seating position was low but otherwise it seems like a decent package. Sticker was just under $46K for the V6 gas engine model. I’m sure it would be better with an LS.

I like your thinking on the LS in the Colorado ZR2. My wife’s daily is an Orange ZR2 with the V-6 and while it’s a nice truck, it’s not very zippy.

Ford definitely took style cues from the Raptor for the ‘21s. Just compare them as in this article. Only the ‘21 is saying why me and the Raptor is saying come and get some. I think Ford probably has the most wisest range of powertrain options at its disposal right now. But will they be willing to deviate much from there previous lineup.

I do have an opinion like everyone else. But, I'm conflicted. The TRX changes how ford may play the release of next raptor. There has been really no competition to the raptor - and the gen 1 to gen 2 took a long time because it was an all new F150 - the move to the aluminum body was a big jump in terms of tooling etc. Made sense that the gen 2 raptor came 3 years after the last gen 1. Assuming the same frame is used from the current f150 to the 2021 that would make things a bit easier for the raptor since the raptor's frame is reworked a bit to be stronger in spots.

Part of me says ford has a lot on their plate with the new f150 and the bronco and that the raptor will wait a couple of years, just like the all electric f150. The other side, now with the TRX in play, Ford might not want there to be a void in the market for Fiat to potentially fill depending on how good or ****** they roll out and present the TRX. As mentioned, the 3 year gap between gen1 and gen2 is a trend, not set in stone. If I had to guess though, I'd say that there will NOT be a 2021 Raptor and that maybe Ford will roll with a 2022 Raptor to be released summer of 2021.

Ok I am not on the inside. So I don’t really know. But does Ford already have complete knowledge of what the TRX is about? I’d they do not, then this gap between production is perfect. Sit back for at least one model year and take notes. Then you can build the next Raptor to be equal or better than the TRX. Or you just build the Raptor to what you feel people want most. I also agree Ford probably has a lot going on. The electric future is a big focus I’m sure.

There are plenty of F150s without the 2021 so by your rational they should stop making them.

My guess is Ford will take the same approach they did with the Mustang GT500 vs. the Hellcat/Demon. While the GT500 may not match the Dodge equivalents by the numbers, it is a better all around car for many things. That makes it interesting to think what they'll do. If the TRX does have 700hp they'll need to boost things quite a bit. Taking the Ecoboost to 660hp or more, like the Ford GT, is probably a stretch. Therefore, they'll need to massage one of the V8s to get 725hp. I got a good laugh when they upped the 6.7L to 1,050 lb.ft.tq. to keep the competition at bay. I actually like the idea of independent suspension (according to the rumors) but I do wonder if that will impact towing capacity. I tow and enjoy the various destinations with a camper trailer while disconnecting for the trails.

Is 700 hp even usable offroad? Or in any pickup truck not locked into 4wd? I could see a bump over the current Gen 2, but not so much it makes the truck undrivable.
