Whenever I see stuff like this where it appears like one person is being a total ass, there is often something else that happened off camera that makes it not quite so "*******". It could be that the semi made an unnecessarily wide turn. Could be that the truck ran the light or started his turn too late causing the Raptor to miss his green ligjht. Could be that this is a regular occurrence and the Raptor is tired of having to back down and accommodate semi's all the time. Could be that the Semi driver flipped him the bird or something of that nature. Could be that the Raptor owner is having a crappy day, got fired, whatever, and just doesn't feel like putting up with anything right now. And of course it could be that the Raptor owner is just an ass. Odds are he is just an ass, sure.

Point is that I've seen way too many videos and news reports these days where what looks like happened or what's reported to have happened isn't actually what's happened. Not trying to turn this political, but there's that kid at the Lincoln Memorial who was apparently disrespecting a native America, there's Jessie Smolett, there's the "fine people on both sides" hoax. We don't know what happened before the camera starts rolling, we don't know the circumstances that lead to what we see.

To be fair, Rap driver appears to have been legally in the right here, whether or not people think he’s being discourteous. If he has to reverse, go out of lane, outside the lines or across the double for some other driver to complete a turn, the other driver is almost certainly at fault. More importantly, if a collision results from Rap driver’s maneuver to permit the errant tractor trailer driver to proceed, Rap driver is at fault. I had a friend who was ordered by LE to clear an intersection and a collision ensued. LE remained on scene, was his witness and he was still charged, convicted and held financially responsible for the collision.

lol...i have done similar things.

in my subdivision, people park on the street way too much. you are only allowed to park on 1 side of the street to keep things passable. it is my position, that if the car is parked on you side of the street, you have to yield to on coming traffic whos lane is not blocked.

there are many times people just try to squeeze 3 cars into a two lane road instead of yielding. When i am on the side with no blockage, and coming to a parked car on my left, and see another car coming the other way.....i refuse to move right to let a 3rd car squeeze between my raptor and a parked car.

on a few occations, i have come to a stop head on with ass hats who do not yield. I just stop and make them back up.

So.....guilty as charged.

but in the video, I think the semi needed to be given room, there is no reason the raptor couldn't have backed up.

I'm pretty sure that's the law actually. You never have the right away if you're going out of your lane into the lane of on coming traffic. I can't imagine a state would write it up any other way.

My subdivision is similar. The street is pretty wide, but many cars are parked on both sides of the road, so it's very common to heed to weave your way through. The problem is partly cultural in that people are don't want to rearrange vehicles in their driveway, but mostly due to the subdivision planners and builders going cheap with the design. No one has a decent sized driveway and the garages are barely capable of holding two small cars, let alone a single truck. I suppose this fits most people just fine since they want to use the garage as an extra room or storage.

I usually do. Not because I think I should defer or anything like that, but because I've developed a strong distrust of other drivers. In situations like this, I'll look to see if the other driver appears to be slowing down or paying attention and won't enter if I think they aren't. I'll avoid the potential collision even though I'm in the right. Same goes for stop signs and lights. Seen way to many people run them to enter the intersection to enter it myself till I'm sure the other vehicles are paying attention.

I don't think there's any guilt there. It's a different situation. The other vehicle is supposed to yield and absolutely can yield.

I think the grey area is because the street is classic subdivision blocks. 2 on each side.

there is no center line with paint, but you can clearly see a center line. I have a buddy who lives down the street who firmly believes there are no lanes, and 3 cars can fit, so he goes for it every time. i just call him a DB and hope we never meet.

I agree, most driveways are too small. i take pride in the fact that i have 3 cars in my 3 car garage. The guy across the street, has 1 car in his 2 car garage. 2 in the drive way, and 3 on the street. freakin used car lot.

The guy in the F150 was being an ass. He wasn't going to hit anyone or cause an accident backing up. Semi trucks just cannot stay in their lanes 100% of the time when making turns. Our roads would be massive if they were sized so an OTR sleeper cab truck turning 90 degrees would never leave it's lane. I hate other people in general as much as the next guy, but damn man, you are NOT the only person on the road. The truck driver is just trying to do a job, not measure *****.
