For the last six months the Nav System has been displayed a little "GPS" with a red cross through it and been unable to locate itself. When it began it happened every 4-5 starts, but it is now happening almost every time. Just a tad annoying.

The solution has typically been to turn off the truck, let everything power down, wait 30 seconds, and then start again. That used to work most, but not all, of the time. Now it works about 50% of the time. My wife thinks it is related to the temperature (worst when coldest) but I am not convinced that it is not simply getting worse over time and that it happens to be getting colder outside.

My wife is also convinced that it is related to the NavTV we had installed (it started doing this about a month after the install).

Any ideas? I've had no problems with Sync on this or my other Fords but certainly have read all the blistering complaints about it....

I had exact same problem. After installing the NavTV the GPS stopped working immediately. Noah shipped me a replacement unit, but it did same thing, no GPS. Now I've got the NavTV removed and GPS works again.

Ughh. Did you replace the NavTV with another product? I could live with not running the Nav while in motion but the inability to run the front cam when parking is very annoying. Why they didn't allow it to be used at under 5 MPH in regular drive or reverse makes no sense.

Ok, my story is actually a little more complicated.

I installed NavTV, and GPS immediately stopped working. Checked GPS antenna, it was firmly connected. I contacted Noah and he kindly agreed to ship out another unit. Then before putting the new NavTV unit in place the entire Head Unit screen turned black and the HU was unaccessible, no control. Not happy with this as you can imagine. Installed the new NavTV unit, replaced all modules and wiring harness. Same situation, HU screen still black. Then pulled all NavTV modules and harness off. HU screen still black. My 4WD shop did all this work. On the drive back from the shop the HU screen reboots with a MS Sync reboot screen and has been working since. I have not reinstalled the NavTV. HU still working and GPS working. No idea what is causing this but NavTV doesn't seem to like my truck. I have been in touch with NavTV customer service and while they have responded they do not as of now have an answer on what is going on. Will update if NavTV comes back anything definitive.

My gps has been doing that recently. I've had the Nav-tv installed for over six months, but just started with the weird gps loss in the last week or two.

Well that is very interesting- it turns out mine is a little more complicated as well and I had a very similar experience with my install.

I was terrified I bricked the whole system. I don't know the details but the long and the short of it was that a wire came mislabeled from nav-tv. The install shop and Noah spent hours on the phone figuring that out.

What time of the year did you do your install? Mine was early June of last year. I wonder if they had a bad batch.

I believe I bought the NavTV around June. Did the install in November and reinstalled new unit in December from (presumably) new batch of NavTV's.

I've also heard there is some cold weather related issue on the NavTV's where at colder temps it causes something to go bad, but its not clear if that was my issue and although it was installed in November we had warm periods up to around 60+ degrees and it there was no variation in behavior at all.

So as an interim follow up- its been about a week since I've had this problem. The only thing that has changed, as far as I can tell, is that I have been trying unsuccessfully to get the diagnostics mode to run by pushing the 3 and 6 buttons. Is anyone with NavTV able to get diagnostics to work?
