I have the Ridge Grapplers and absolutely love them compared to the Ko2’s, the only negative I have is the extra 5lbs per tire on the Nittos you can feel. They are great on road and off-road and seem like they would claw through anything.

The weight cost me performance and MPG, I am down a solid 3mpg with the Nittos compared to the BFG’s, The Nittos are a lot better in the wet then BFG’s. The BFG felt like ice skating in the rain and the Nittos grip a lot better, you can still spin them but you have to work at it. The Nittos look evil on the Raptor vs BFG also. Lol

The metric size is relatively new. The "inch" tires have been out a while. I doubt you'll find anyone running the new ones. It's also hard to really tell when you compare a worn out tire to a brand new tire. One has lost pounds of rubber, and the other hasn't.

That said - I track my fill ups/mileage with ACar/Fuelly.

With worn out (70% gone I'd say) KOs, I averaged 13.0 MPG over 7045 miles.
With brand new 35x12.5x17 RGs, I have averaged 11.4 MPG over 7091 miles.

So 1.6 MPG difference on Gen 1 truck. At $2.25/gal thats $1400 in gas with RGs vs $1227 with the stockers. About $350 difference per 15,000 miles.

In your case, you are looking at the lighter RGs and you are probably replacing a KO2 with a lot of tread left? Probably still going to be about a 1.5 MPG hit given the higher average to start with.

Thanks Eric, that ~-1.5 is what I would expect, the stated -3 MPG seems out of line and why I posted this thread.

My 2019 has 3984 miles now and the indicated fuel economy is 16.4 with the stock tires included spirited driving and interstate driving.

When driving into a office my commute is 124 miles, perhaps 40 on secondary roads where I like Sport mode and more throttle, the remainder are interstate miles in Normal more averaging ~70mph. In that loop, I can repeatedly average 20 mpg if I want, but it's more fun not to LOL.

thanks

I run 87. Average price for that since early 2016 (when I bought it) has been $2.15. $0.30 each bump up in octane rating, so 92 goes for $2.75 on average around here.

I am not sure how some are getting 11ish mpg ... they must be hauling some weight or driving it like they stole it.

Once you install your tires, it will be interesting to see how if affects your MPG. Please keep us posted.

It's their right foot. A turbo engine in boost will get about **** all MPG.

My 70k vehicle is not once in its life going to be subject to the kind of off-roading you’re insinuating it *should* be used for.

I own a side by side that I use to go off-roading. Off-roading in a climate controlled luxury vehicle is stupid to begin with.

I have a SxS as well and while most of my off road activity involves using my Raptor to tow the SxS to the trail head, there are occasions where I want to do some off roading in a nice, comfortable climate controlled vehicle. Especially when the weather is less than ideal.

What about the Goodyear Duratrac's. Tire Rack and DiscontTire say they weigh 61lbs. That's 4lbs less than the KO2's. Should we expect better gas mileage with them?

I am the one that posted the loss of mpg and here is where that comes from.

Truck is 2017 with Whipple Stage 1 and 1.5 level with RRW 17x8 with stock since RG’s.

The truck would normally get 14-15 city with stock BFG’s and last summer I went from Jax FL to Key west with 4 people luggage and a Yeti 75 in the bed. I drove 80mph dang near the whole way in July and got 16.5-18.
Now last December I got my new RG’s on and had to drive alone 400 miles to Dunn NC at 1am in the morning and set the cruise at 70mph the whole way and got 13.2, since then city is 12-14 tops.

That is my experience with the RG’s.
