Howdy. First time Raptor owner as of 3 days ago. Sorry for the lengthy intro.
Came from a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison edition I purchased late September of this year to replace a 2018.5 GMC Sierra I had left up in our second place in CDA, ID thinking it would be a great idea, boy was I wrong. Sometime in 2022, GM decided to move from a plastic oil pan to a stamped aluminum oil pan, and to be honest I can take or leave either design. Upon my first oil change on the Colorado, the steel threaded insert in the oil pan broke free from its pinch welds. I was luckily able to get the drain plug back in without a leak, but never would I be able to use the drain plus without risking the threaded insert falling into a void on the pan. I then started experiencing TMPS failures after 300 miles on the truck.
For the final nail in the coffin, luckily I was in a parking lot creeping, but upon pulling into a spot, I lost all brakes and the pedal went to the floor. To get the truck to stop, I had to pull the electronic e-brake. A week before, I noticed the front driver’s side wheel was covered in brake dust and the passenger side wheel was clean and the rotor had no rub marks as if the passenger side brakes were not working. I took the truck to a dealership where it sat for two days. They called back and said the battery was low and that every body control module had an error and possibly it was messing around with the ABS module. BS!! I asked about brake dust and rotor wear, or lack of wear, and I also questioned why the battery was low, and what if I was on the freeway if the brakes went out. Needless to say, my wife refused to drive the Colorado let alone be in it, so it had to go.
I have always been a fan of Raptors, and given the fact that I was not going to buy another GM product, perhaps this time was it.
Managed to find an 2024 in Avalanche with the 802a package without the sunroof. It did not come with a spray-in bed liner, but that is on the list. I am 110% loving the truck and the power. The GM 2.7 Turbomax is a good engine, very torquey, but it sounds like ass, aside from the very apparent and loud turbo spool sound, but the 8-speed transmission isn’t doing the engine justice.
Below is the Bison, gone, and replaced with the Raptor. Stickers have been removed on the Raptor.
