Any concerns with the load rating being only 900kgs which equates to 1984lbs?


Great question! The truck’s GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating is 3,800lbs, making the minimum load rating per wheel 1,900lbs. At 1,984lbs per wheel, these wheels remain in spec.

I like the wheels and am considering getting them.... that said, I am seeing the gross axel wt rating is 4,800 for the rear, not 3,800 as stated above.

numbers:

Gross Axle Wt Rating - Front : lbs 3750
Gross Axle Wt Rating - Rear : lbs 4800
Gross Combined Wt Rating : lbs 12050
Gross Axle Weight Rating : lbs 8550.00

most other wheels I've found same size have a load rating of ~2,500lbs -- am I missing something here?

Hey there, hope I can clear this up!

The GAWR for the 2018 Raptor SuperCrew is based upon a 2018 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4 145.0 inch wheelbase and is listed as 3,800 lbs Rear and 3,600 lbs Front.

The GAWR for the 2018 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4 156.8 inch wheelbase is what you quoted with 3,750 front and 4,800 rear. Specifically, those numbers are for either the 5.0L V8 or the EcoBoost 3.5L with and 18” tire/wheel package and the Heavy Duty Payload Package.

That said, with a GAWR of 3,800lbs, these wheels are within factory spec for the load rating.

Now to answer why the load rating is lower than other wheels, Vorsteiner built these wheels specifically for the Gen 2 Raptor so they wanted to make the wheels as light as possible, yet remain within factory specs.

Most other wheels on the market are going to be mass produced to fit a wide range of vehicles and then drilled in the appropriate bolt pattern for the truck they’re going on.

So I looked on the sticker on my door. 3700 gawr for the front and 3750 for the rear. So yes these wheels are w/in factory spec for load rating as you stated above. I was also also very surprised to see that the combine weight of cargo and occupants shouldnt exceed 1051lbs - wow. Out of curiosity I looked at my f350 which said not to exceed 3096lbs.

It has a lot more to do with suspension than anything else. It's not that the motor or transmission isn't strong enough, but it's really about finding the balance between off-road capability, towing, and payload for the suspension. So with a soft suspension with as much travel as these trucks have, the load capacity is limited.
