I was wondering if anyone could help with a problem. I installed a Cobb FMIC about 6 months ago and when removing the grille shutters, I left the grille shutter motors plugged in and zip tied out of the way. It has gotten increasingly colder over the last couple months and started noticing a prevention in truck startup. At first it seemed like a starter problem so I replaced the starter. No avail! So randomly checked to see if there were any dtc codes and sure enough, 2 for grille shutter. I cleared them and the truck started right up. It continues to come up and prevents startup. Showing a wrench light on the dash now as well. Has anyone experienced this or gone with unplugging the motors altogether? Any feedback would help.

Is this a GEN 2? I removed the shutters themselves and left everything else in place. At 80k with no issues.

Yes gen 2. I removed the shutters as well but left the motors. Haven’t had any problems until recently with the close to 0 degree weather.

I did the same thing a few years back and I have had no problems whatsoever so ever. I don’t think it’s completely tied to just the shutters being removed.
