No 5.7 in Raptor. If it's the 5.4 walk away. Those motors are nothing but trouble and are only good to use as a boat anchor.:party28:

Interesting post. How many of those junk 5.4 motors were produced, how many are still driving tjeir junk 5.4 f150 trucks ?

What 6.2 has the most miles, is the 6.2 a proven motor, not in my book.

Is the owner of the Raptor on one of these fourms ? You Might be ok with this one, look for excessive off road Abuse, check Ford for warranty claims, voided warrantys ect

The 5.4 was put in f 150 trucks for many years. Maybe not the Best motor ever but good. Especially if it fits Your budget

Yeah I am basically getting it for $28k and wanting this truck since the day they came out but not being able to afford a $700 truck payment this opportunity seemed like a once in a lifetime trade... It does have the warranty and honestly I'm going to go off reading but I think the 5.4 would actually be better for my use since it will be more for my daily driver to and from work (only 10 miles) and then my toy on the weekends so I'd rather get the little bit of extra gas mileage over having a 6.2 L that I may never potentially use to the fullest... Thank you all for the responses good and bad and I hope to become a raptor family member soon!

Welcome. Make sure it's in good condition with a straight frame and has been serviced regularly. Highway miles are very different from hard offroad miles. It ain't no 6.2 but you're never going to find one for that deal. I would take a 5.4 over no raptor. Whtrapta and others like theirs

Long standing joke about the 5.4 vs. 6.2. Sorry. Shouldn't have done that to a new guy.

The 5.4 is a great motor and honestly, you'd never know the difference.

Here's a link to the pictures of the truck, I know it's only pictures but maybe it will help some see why Im having a hard time not getting just because of mileage and the motor...

Your killing me! Lol I guess I should consider that my mini hazing for joining lol I'm glad this is such a supportive and relaxed forum! Much different than car forums... I should have gotten a truck years ago!

you can look up what the truck has had for work with that he is not trying to hide any thing and took pic's of imperfections held up good imo for that many miles makes me smile...

here, on frf
ok wilson let me explain.......

since the raptor was designed for offroad use, you never know what the previous owner did with it. just like a motorcycle, you never know how the previous rider was on it. in a vehicle however you have 4 wheels and a rollcage. on a bike if shit goes wrong youre screwed. but if i knowingly lie to you and say that i never offroaded the truck and you bought it, wouldnt you be pissed if there were problems with it? and with no warranty(or little warranty in this case) you are going to be in a world of hurt if you start paying to fix everything when it expires. maybe a small stress in the frame becomes a problem 2000 miles after the warranty expires or the piston rings are damaged, stuff like that. with that many miles, i would stay away

That's a good reason and I will definitely take into consideration but if the truck has had its scheduled/necessary oil changes and the subframe looks good I would think its all in how it was taken care of versus mileage right? I know some Chevys/fords with 200K miles but because the owners took care of them they're still running strong to this day
