Awesome insight! We've been working with ADS for some time, and they truly stand behind their stuff. Tyler is a great guy to work with too. Any issues you have, even outside of their "warranty" they'll still take care of you and will happily adjust things to your liking. So reading through a lot of what’s said in here on these shocks, I wanted to say a few things. I was torn between these and the Fox 3.0 and Kings.
The Icons were out of the running at the onset. I drove a a raptor with the full stage 4, or whatever it is, right when I got my truck and I was unimpressed. I like Icon’s stuff. I just didn’t like their kit for the raptor. It was stiff. Regardless of adjustment. I felt like it “cheapened” the ride. This is just my opinion. That said, I like the fact that the kit is complete. Everything works together. Everything has been tested together. Their leafs are all inclusive and adjustable, but squeaky.
Fox obviously has a great product. They are huge. Tons of R and D, a lot of satisfied users, great on road and off. But they are expensive, you can be subject to a wait, and you don’t get the full kit like you do with the icon, so you are piecing things together.
Kings were less available. They are about the same price as the Fox. I had heard mixed reviews on service and I heard some leaking issues and more frequent rebuild requirements. Again, these were things I read in research. I can’t speak to them as I did not have them on my Raptor.
ADS is local-ish (about 110 miles away). I contacted them, they were nice, they kept in contact. Any issue I had. I contacted them directly and got ahold of someone. It was good all around. Here were the downsides...they gave me a discount on the shocks and didn’t give them to me for free for loaning them my truck. Which is more of a “me complaining” thing than anything else. They are smaller. They don’t carry the name recognition of the others. They resi mounts were nothing special. The pros, they are small, you can contact the person who built your shocks. The front was a freaking dream. Their soft rebound system is awesome.the rear stayed planted, but was noisy (to be expected). The experience was great. The prices are better. I was doing stuff off road with no issue that other raptors seemed to have more trouble with.
Anyhow, that’s my $.02. Contact then. Send an email. They will be happy to talk to you.
I am lifting my 4runner now. I am considering their shocks.
