I emailed Diode Dynamics and unfortunately this does trigger the truck into thinking there is a trailer attached. Here is their response:

Thanks for reaching out. Yes, when installing the hitch mount kit, your vehicle will think that a trailer is attached. With some vehicles, this could disable things such as reverse backup or BLIS systems. I am sorry that I did not have better news to report, however if you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know!

They've not tested every truck. Some trucks might pickup a trailer (because something is plugged in). Some trucks may not. They also delayed the release a bit to work out some kinks so chances are by the time they ship the issue will be solved.

We were told first week in December for those of us dealers with pre-orders. Nothing yet.

I canceled my order after seeing the response from Diode Dynamics.

Be advised that if you used PayPal, 4x4TruckLEDs does not refund the 3.49% transaction fee. Seems unusual since nothing was shipped to me and the manufacturer can't confirm whether the product will interfere with other systems, but oh well.

That's pretty standard since PayPal charges us 3.49% + $0.49 even on refunded transactions. This is outlined in our policies at the top of our page AND we also list this policy right before you checkout to which you have to read/agree to in order to place an order with us.

It's not unusual these days since PayPals policies have changed over the last year or two and they do NOT favor merchants at all and screw us left/right.

We just got a shipping notification today. Our stock order is en route to us and will be here in a few days
