What is the gross vehicle weight (not curb weight) on a gen 1? If it’s similar to a gen 2 … C load should be fine. C load 35s weren’t exactly common back then…if even at all.
Gen 1 came with load range D tires.

Car and Driver shows Gen1 141 pounds heavier than a 2

Pretty sure the weight difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 is way more than 141 lbs. Should be in the 450 lb range.

Yes…but was there even a C load 35 available at the time? Also GVWR is what determines load ratings on tires….The gen two is lighter, but also can haul and tow more. I agree that I would mostly likely stick with D load on a gen 1, but would ford have gone with a C if it existed?

That 141 lbs is likely comparing a SCAB gen 1 with a SCREW gen 2. If i had to make a wild guess.
