Thank you all for your replies. I am in total shock not only being without my Raptor, but also at facing issues trying to get it fixed. I work on people not cars so I was hoping there would be some possible explanation regarding the motor, other than service negligence, explaining why I had loss of oil leading to "catastrophic engine failure", which is how the dealership diagnosed my Raptor. If by the grace of God, I do get the engine replaced under warranty, I will always check my oil level after a service. A couple of you have mentioned to contact crystal@fordservice and I thank you for the information. I have contacted a ford service representative that said she will look over my service records on Wednesday and get back in touch with me. If that does not lead to any resolutions, I will contact Crystal. I thank all of you for the support and information and if anyone has any further ideas please let me know. FYI I was also told that if I had my Raptor serviced any place other than a dealership, this would be a closed case and I would be left with a dead Raptor and 3 years of payments. So be careful where you have your truck serviced, keep the records and check the oil after each service.

That is a lie and illegal! There is a law (I forget the name of the act) that explicitly states you can have work done on you vehicles at any shop and it does not affect you warranty as long as manufacture approved fluids and parts are used.

It's call the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and while true the dealer can't deny a warranty because you had the work done elsewhere, if the work done elsewhere was not done correctly the dealership (manufacturer) doesn't have to fix it.

So while you say you have had your Raptor serviced regularly was it at the same dealership who is looking at your truck now or at another shop?

If the dealership did the oil change and did it wrong, the dealer is liable (they will figure out a way to claim warranty I'm sure).

If the work was done at a local independent shop and it turns out they did it wrong, they are liable for the cost of the repairs.

Problem is getting a dealership or even an independent shop to admit they did wrong doing is going to be extremely tough let alone near impossible. I would still get @FordService involved here instead of waiting to find out the outcome. I've called Ford customer service in the past and it tends to be a worthless cause. They are contractors in Florida and seem to not care like a true Ford employee, even the managers are not employees in customer service. Get Crystal here involved, she cares!

I've had my Raptor for two years. I am up to date on all my services. My last service/ oil change was 900 miles ago. I noticed a knocking noise on the way to work and called Ford service when they opened. They asked if any warning or service lights we're on, which none came on. I made an appointment to bring it in as soon as I got off work, the same day. I drove straight to dealership after work, as I pulled in the motor was still knocking. The service tech asked me what was wrong, I said I'll show you and started my Raptor, there was a loud knocking noise and the truck died. The engine locked up, dead. The service representative checked my oil and said there was no oil in the truck. At that time he searched for evidence of a leak, but could not find one. There was no evidence of burning oil via exhaust. The next day upon further inspection, no evidence of any leak can be found. All my services have been done at a Ford dealership. Initially I was told, since there was no oil in the truck, it was negligence on my part; therefore, the engine would not be covered under warranty. The dealership is dissecting my engine to see if they can find any reason why my Raptor lost 5 quarts of oil in 900 miles and hopefully a reason to warrenty a motor. Once again no warning or service lights ever came on. My truck has been in a ford service center for 3 days and no hope in sight. The dealership recommended I file a customer service complaint to start a case file and investigation, which I have. Has anyone ever had or heard of an issue like this or any idea how the oil could have been lost? Can anyone possibly shed any light on my trucks demise? Thank you, Sedator13

Welcome to the forum, Sedator13. As other folks have mentioned, it looks like it might be time to get me involved. I'll start by researching the current case you had opened and go from there. Send me a PM with the case number (if you have it handy) and I'll get to work. If you don't have your case number, send me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership.

We have learned from a number of discussions that the oil pressure gage is just a fancy idiot light. If there is enough pressure to make the switch it will indicate that everything is normal.
If the sensor is close to the pump even a very low oil level can allow for enough pressure to still make the switch.
Problem would be that further away from the pump pressure and flow would fizzle out.
Needed cooling for internal parts would fail.

So, it could be that a service person started filling the engine with oil, got distracted, and did not finish the job.

Just a possibility...

i agree. that oil pressure gauge dont mean jack. this is why you do self maintenance. because who else cares about your own vehicle more than you? do it yourself and you know its right. but goodluck with it man maybe they will cover it!

All,

Please read the OPs 1st post. He said he had an oil change 900 miles ago and after 900 miles he heard a knock. If during his last oil change (900 miles ago) there was no oil added then his engine would have seized pronto and not 900 miles later. So it obvious he lost all or most of his oil during or after 900 miles of driving.

I am going to guess that he lost most of his oil recently. If you were let's say 2 quarts low after 500 miles after the oil change I imagine your check engine light would have come on. But the OP states he never saw a check engine light.

Agreed^^. No oil engines run a very short distance. Check the exhaust for oil. may have bad rings and it got pushed out the exhaust. Or you have an enemy.

He said 5 quarts low.
Should 5 quarts go through the exhaust in 900 miles you, and everyone around you, would have known.

Once again I thank everyone for their input and recommendation to contact Crystal. I'm going to do the best to answer questions people have asked. Please bare with me I am new to posting. I have had all of my services done at a local dealership, except for my last service 900 miles ago. The last service I had done while I was on vacation at a Ford dealership. My local dealership seems to be trying everything they can to find a possible warrantable solution, dissecting my engine a little at a time. They have found no evidence of leak and the exhaust shows no signs of burning oil. CRYSTAL if you are reading this I have all the information you requested, but I do not know how to post it directly to you. Can you tell me the best way to contact you other than post or how to post to you. I also want to thank you for replying and showing an interest.
