New HID headlights & LED bulbs

well let me just say this. the retrofits are the best option BUT they are expensive and not everybody can afford or want to drop that much money on something like this. if u use the HID kit in the stock housings be sure to aim them and u should have no blinding issues. i have ran many HID kits in many vehicles and after aiming them correctly i rarely ever got flashed from bliding people. infact the my raptor never getss flashed the only one that ever got flashed was my last truck but it was because i had it lifted so high i couldnt aim them low enough and my fogs were HID and they probably were windshield height for most other cars

The LED back up lights just came out & Allen at Fyre Flys said mine were the 1st ones that he had sent out. I think they were $29.99 & they seem 10 times brighter than my stock back up bulbs...

Digger, is there a stock number or model number on those back-up bulbs that you can share? Please?

How do they work in conjunction with the back-up camera? Do they improve the view through the camera? I've read that too much light can wash out the view through the back-up camera.

I bought 3 HID kits & enough LED bulbs to do 3 vehicles & he gave me the back up lights & they were just in a envelope saying Back up lights for your Raptor. I'm calling him on Monday cuz someone else wants the switchback lights (running/directional) & the back up lights so I'll get the part number for you then. I'll go out tonight & check on the back up lights messing with the back up camera.

I couldn't disagree more with the part about the light not going where it's supposed to be going. Basically we're taking out the candles that Ford calls headlights & installing a brighter bulb in the stock housing & as long as your headlights are set up correctly & you don't go with some mental color (purple or green) you should never get pulled over with them. We have a 2010 Escalade & had 2008 Mini Cooper S (which I sold to buy my Raptor) & both have factory projector bi-xenon headlights & they are just as bright if brighter than the 55wt HID kit that I installed in the Raptor. The light pattern at night is virtually the same as with the stock headlights it's just way brighter but again no brighter or any more offensive than the HID headlights in our Escalade or our Mini. Some of us don't have a grand to spend on Ducati's retrofit headlights. A friend of mine has them & I love them & would love to put them in my Raptor too but in my opinion they are way overpriced. Sorry Ducati

One thing most ppl dont understand about plug and play kits is the light source from a hid bulb is in a different position then a halogen bulb. Its only by a couple millimeters but when you multiply that by the amount the light travels down the road it exponentially increases the amount of spilled light. Simply put, the oem reflectors were specifically designed for the halogen bulbs, when you insert a hid bulb you change the reflective properties, that is a fact not a opinion.

I totally understand not everyone can afford a real retrofit but for most guys who just spent 50k-60k on a truck its really not that big of a deal to spend another grand and have the best lighting possible.

If you do get a pnp kit do yourself a favor and buy quality components from a place like TRS, those ebay kits are pure garbage and you will have nothing but problems.

I totally agree that you definitely know more about lighting than I do I just know what I know cuz both of our other vehicles & our 2 previous cars had factory HID's. I definitely can guarantee you that my HID kit is NOT dangerous to oncoming traffic & NOT going to run someone off of the road as another member stated. That is pure BS & just plain ridiculous. As I stated earlier I have a friend that has your retro fit HID kit & I Fn love them but after spending 50k on my truck & another $4500 on wheels & tires & a bed rug & Tonneau cover that my wife says I absolutely didn't need there was no in hell I was talking her into another $1000 for new headlights too

Let me ask you a simple question, does your Raptor sit up higher than any car that you put you HID bulbs in? Do you honestly think that HID bulbs that are put in Halogen lamp lights , no light escapes?

I live in the state of Tennessee, what you are doing is Illegal here and I am sure in many other states if you would like I will ask the Highway patrolman who lives across the street from me to explain to you the dangers, he personally thanked me for getting mine professionally done as he has worked accidents where people were ran off the road because of HID lights that the beam escapes and blinded drivers on the other side of the road
