The wife and I attended a 2021 Bronco event yesterday, she has one on order and the dealers are doing demo events now with Ford stock from Michigan.

As we were leaving, I noticed the 2021 Bronco has a different style antenna than us, I couldn’t measure - but it sure looked shorter. Without the actual length it’s just speculation, but I wonder if this would be a direct mount to our trucks if it is shorter? If so, maybe it wouldn’t impact reception? My picture was last minute, but notice the thicker base and the pronounced windings on the mast. Anyone seen one like this before?

My amateur and beginning understanding of radios is that any shorter antenna is going to impact reception to some degree. There’s no way around that. I’m trying to build out a high frequency radio system for my truck and not coming up with great luck for exactly what I want without a base station type radio.

Now, is it measurable by any real world standard is the question. Won’t know until it’s tried. It will certainly get better reception than a stubby antena. You can just see if it will screw onto the truck as it is. I can’t imagine it would be a different connection.

Bronco looked solid! Definitely less fancy than my 2018 802a Raptor from a drivers perspective, but that’s to be expected with a smaller vehicle. Quality seemed great and the Ford staff who were doing the demo were great!

We ordered a Badlands package Bronco with the Bilstein “HOSS” package and the front/rear lockers and sway bar disconnects. She will likely never need any of that but I believe it will help the resale when we trade it - similar to a Jeep Rubicon.

I was not a fan of the Sasquatch package they had out for demo - the Badlands has 33 inch BFG KO2 and optional 35 inch Goodyear’s with the Sasquatch option. I’m sure some might like the tire size difference alone, but I’ve never been a fan of gloss black wheels and 35 inch tires on a midsize vehicle were a bit too noisy in my personal opinion.

Minor preferences aside, they look like fun vehicles!

Its one of those things that probably doesn’t affect anyone until you decide you want to measure it.

What’s a radio?

It makes a lot of noise from people you don’t really want to hear from. Or it’s the thing the guy in the old ricer is blasting as his car is rattling itself apart and his trunk pops open randomly with a bunch of mismatched LEDish lights.

With all the tech and other ways to listen to music I got a laugh out of a antenna reception debate! I did replace my antenna awhile back with a cab height version. But haven’t tried any radio stations with it. I was just tired of scraping it on the garage door.
