This article makes no sense. If a V8 TT was an option in 2017 or an option at all why not mention it at the Detroit Auto show? It would generate so much hype for Ford. If this article has any truth at all then I bet my ass that it will NOT be available in 2017 or even 2018. Why? Because Ford would have great difficulty selling the 3.5L V6 TT if customers knew a V8 TT was an option the following model year or even in 2019. The majority of customers would just wait for the V8 TT.

Time will tell but it makes no sense to develop 2 engines knowing that the 2nd engine option is what the market is looking for.

What was the situation when only the 5.4 existed? Did people know that the 6.2 was on the way?

Yes. I was told by a dealer to wait for the bigger motor option coming the following year. This after he knew I was not happy with the 5.4 offering and was not going to buy one that year anyway. AND. I have the 6.2.

I'd certainly take the "horsepowerkings" article with a grain of salt right now but I would LOVE to see an official announcement for a V8 powerplant option from Ford in the future.

Maybe to get twice the publicity. Skeptical of the source but hopeful for the V8!

They also said Ford would be getting rid of V8's in the Mustang and F150. Ford issued a statement after that saying they aren't going anywhere.

V8 article is bogus.

Horsepowerkings has reported several rumors and internet speculations as "news." It's a complete garbage website.

So are there going to be two engine options for the Ford GT as well? Doubtful. Is it going to get a 6 while the truck for a fraction of the price gets an 8? Doubtful.

What is the point of the V8? More power? More torque? Sounds like the V6 is going to have more than plenty of both.

As others have said, the 8 would undercut the 6. Almost everyone would wait for the 8. Hell, I don't even care about having a V8, but I'm not going to spend $50k on a truck and then tick the cheaper engine box.

No doubt we'll see some big block megaboost V8 in the next GT500, but I don't think it's slated for the Raptor unless Ford has completely changed their gameplan (and only seen fit to release this news to garbage website horsepowerkings).

The only way I see the Raptor getting a 2 engine option is that Ford puts an enormous price tag on the V8 TT. Like 10K if you want the V8 TT. This would segment the customers into those that have money and those that have ALOT of money.
