GordoJay, I completely hear you and agree. Unfortunate that I bought sight-unseen, though I still like my Raptor. Just sucks not being able to utilize it. If I may ask you, would you rather rebuild or replace the transmission, if replace, new/reman or used? Though used can be a gamble. Thank you.

I'd say do whatever @FordTechOne recommends. :)

I wouldn't go new, unless you're a baller. A rebuilt transmission should still give you a year warranty or more and be just as reliable. Lots of people run 37's, don't see that contributing to the problem. although a good escape route for the factory. Make sure the shop that rebuilds it, gives you a warranty with your 37's in place as well. Post a pic of your Raptor while you are at it and the box's of parts. Good luck.

Unfortunately not a baller, would be nice. I'm agreeing, warranty not wanting to pay out. I will definitely speak with a shop who's creditable and add the 37s on as well. I appreciate the insight. As for the pictures, want me to post them here?
Thank you.

Yeah you can post in this thread as it is yours, or you can start a new thread in the "Newbie" section and introduce yourself that way. It's all good.

It sounds like the previous owner may have beat hell out of the truck and then traded it. Does it have signs that a tune was installed? A bad tune can roast a transmission in short order, especially combined with oversized tires.

Did the dealer provide a quote to repair the transmission? These units are fully serviceable; any experienced Ford transmission tech can disassemble and reassemble the unit in less than one day. However, if there are metal shavings present in the fluid or internal components have been sitting around unprotected and exposed to contamination, I would replace the unit instead of risking future issues. The Ford/Motorcraft remanufactured unit is warrantied for 3 years/unlimited miles, but the truck will need to be running the factory calibration and factory size tires.

It's what I have been thinking was well.. No signs of a tune ever installed, to the best of my knowledge.
The dealership did provide a quote for the transmission at $8,800. OTD. I did see and feel shavings in the transmission housing on the residual oil, as for the internal components - I haven't seen but I can assume the same. It is in need of both pumps and torque converter, my guess is that the internal damage was quite high. I will definitely look into the remans, I called a dealership and quoted me for $5,800.00 OTD(not sure if new or reman) minus 400 give or take since all was already disassembled. I will keep you posted! Thank you for your response!

They're 37/12.5R17
just running 37in tires wont cause ths issue you are having. so as stated, most likely previous owner abused the truck, or has/had something installed incorrectly. i have a remans tran in my gen 1. i had a major issue dealing with that, which i wont get into. where in ca are you?
