GEN 2 Need Transmission rebuild/replace. Recommendations on best route?

I agree, I think whom ever owned it prior dropped it right at or after warranty expired. oh man, sorry to hear, similar to my issue?
I’m in Monterey/San Luis area.
my trans issue was on my gen 1. i had a shop in mountain view do work on it and its someone i trust. since you arent too far it might help you out if you reach out to him

A lawsuit would resolve that warranty issue pretty quick. Don’t let them get away with BS like tire size frying the trans.

You’d only end up with a stack of attorney fees. Unless stated otherwise, the warranty only covers the vehicle is it’s factory configuration. Increasing tire size places additional load on the driveline and will negatively affect the transmission shift strategy. OSS will not correlate with wheel speed and will skew shift strategy, both of which can result in a variety of concerns including clutch damage.

Was the transmission ever serviced? There’s a certain way to do it if not properly done it will destroy the transmission. I just went threw it after my dealership recommended it. Lucky for me they replace the trans with a brand new one. but I had similar situation. made a pop. Smoked and under the truck was covers in trans fluid. Would drive good for short periods of time but after an hr of driving it would bang into gears, slip and spit fluid out.

The Cobb accessport calibrates for large wheel and tire combo correct me if I'm wrong?
