They had to pull the freaking engine to find a broken valve spring!?! Unbelievable!!! Even a B tech would have zeroed in on that long before hooking up the hoist. Pulling a Coyote is a bitch.

What Ford store was this if you don't mind my asking?

Same thing just happened to me, truck dies on the highway, dealer found Cylinder #8 valve spring broken in half, no other damage found. They replaced it and sent me on my way. Pretty simple diagnostic, check engine code showed cylinder 8 misfire, compression test failed, pulled the valve cover and found the spring. makes me worry about the other springs failing.

No I don't think they would have had to pull it had they done the right thing first.

This is just like when I broke my locker in the Raptor. I told them that " it feels like my locker is not disengaging" when I took it in. 2 weeks later, and after replacing an ABS sensor and the Body Control Module, they finally looked at the locker and found it had a crack in it.

Dumb. I think new techs rely too much on the computer codes and not common sense.

These were both at Seekins Ford of Fairbanks AK

Not the only broken Spring

So it has been 12 days since my raptor went to the shop. What started the problem seemed to be a low fuel issue parked on a hill. The check engine light showed its ugly head and I called dealer explaining it sputtered when had less than a quarter tank of fuel. The response was make an appoint it is not flashing no big deal.

Two days later I start the drive to the dealership the truck is running like crap and the engine light starts flashing. A 13 mile drive that my truck was acting like a 4 cylinder.

The hook it to the computer and say they need to replace the coil pack and plugs.

Two days later they have this completed take it on a test drive all is going well then it acts up. No computer codes so they turn off the truck and restart it all seems good. The tech was worried because it acted up so he kept restarting until it would he could recreate the problem fast forward five days and I am really getting unhappy and say I am picking it up. Wham the problem happens show on the computer.

Fuel pressure issues ok so we have a problem and a code but all items they checked on the delivery system did not find an issue back to the Ford Corp they go with the computer codes.

This morning I get the news that they have found it is a broken Valve Spring... now I sit and wait as they take the top off the motor .....
