So i just got done installing some fog lights. disconnected the battery during install. also disconnected the connector (name?) i am touching in the photo below to have more room for the wiring and clean up after. Like an idiot i accidentally tried to start the truck before that connected was reconnected. Truck tried to start but clicked like it would if battery was dead. Panicked, realized what i did wrong, reconnected it, and tried to start again.

Started up normal but immediately threw a bunch of warnings and the engine temp gauge pegged all the way red and the fan went full blast and it also sounded like the truck was idling bad.

I disconnected that battery and let it sit for 10 minutes hoping it would clear whatever the sensors thought was wrong from when i tried to start earlier. Didnt work.

Am I screwed?

Edit: i dont have a flash reader to check the maintenance code.

I am curious why you disconnected the 2nd item?

It's the Power Control Module (googled it) and i removed it because it made the splicing easier and my hot wires to the Aux switches were taped very well to the bottom of it initially.

I'm just a fool for trying to turn the truck on to test the splicing before i reconnected it. Which brings up a question i have, how do i just turn on the power without turning on the engine with the push button start?

Engine only turns on when you step on the brake pedal. So if you want to turn on the power without starting the engine then push the start button WITHOUT touching the brake pedal. this is the case with all push button start cars.

And, as an addition to the above, if you should need to crank, WITHOUT starting, hold the accelerator to the floor, foot on the brake and hit the start button. I do this after an oil/filter change to at least partially fill the filter to minimize 'dry' time at first start. OR if the truck has sat for a couple of weeks w/out running (I don't use it as a daily driver) just to pre-lube it before putting a running load on the moving/lubed parts. It will automatically stop cranking after 10 seconds. I've never tried to repeat it so not sure what would happen then.
