unfortunately you can not interface with the oem hard drive to record video. i have confirmed with a couple of audio/video companies that this will not work. you would have to do what i said earlier, split the vido signal and connect to another hard drive or computer. and bypass the system so the camera stays on all the time.

update... the ford realership i m going to buy my truck from said they will try to get the wiring schematics for me. they are aware of me being an installer. i told them that i want the camera's but not the nav, and that i am going to rip out the audio/video system and replace it with my own stuff, and they re pretty much willing to do what it takes to sell me a truck. so hopefully they can get me that info. i will keep updating as i get new info

well onother dead end. the ford dealership called me back and said that they couldnt get the wiring schematics for me. they said that ford doesnt want aftermarket companies making plug and play units to replace whats already there. even though its imminent that other products will come out, they are not willing to share that info. so i am back to where i started..... i need a truck in my shop so i can get that info myself and post a diy for everyone so you dont have to spend $600 for a nav-tv piece.
so if you are in the bay area and have a 2012 raptor with front camera pm me and we can get something going

Damn it! I knew I shouldn't have return the Wiring Diagram book they left in my truck last month. NosBUSA, I would go to the service manager and asked if you get some photo copies of the desired pages. That book is huge.

i think the issue is not wether or not they will give it to me, but i dont think the dealership has that info. because the ford technicians only replace what is wrong, they dont go into the wiring schematics. (we say, never let a mechanic do an installers job) that i believe if for the manufacturer and not the dealer to look at. so i do have a couple other options i realized, so i will try that, and post my findings here

For $600 you could use a gopro, which has video out and with the new wifi remote records in hd from the cab!! You could also watch your footage right on your truck screen.

Just thinking out loud...

the problem is feeding video into your nav screen. your nav screen cuts video after 20mph so even if you do record you couldnt watch until after you slow down. i personally would use it for parking so i dont run over some poor little prius(of crap) that i couldnt see. but the only way to get video on the nav screen is to be in 4low and locked (i think)

4 low or offroad mode with the diff locked and then the camera has to be enabled. It's a pain in the ass for parking. I just back in now.
