I might just have to take the instrument cluster bezel off so that you can work your artistry, and have a local shop do the rest of the install. :)

so while hunting a couple weeks ago, we set up camp in the sierras. i happen to arrive about 10:30 pm and had to set up camp. there were no lights as this was a primitive campground. while the bed lights did great at keeping the bed lit up, and the hood lights made for a good spot to set up my tent, i could not see the ground under the tailgate. i came around the back of the truck and my shin hit the tailgate step. didnt feel good, and we had a lot of walking to do the next day. lets just say it wasnt as fun as hunting should be. so after something bad happens, you go look for a fix. well here is my fix for that.

for your application, you should use a mercury switch. i used a magnetic reed switch for this. same as my tailgate
