I can understand where the OP is coming from somewhat. When you look at reviews on YouTube etc (lord knows I watched 100 of them) they always talk about how fast the truck is. IMO it sets an unrealistic expectation to a lot of people that the Raptor is a rocket ship. I think my truck is awesome, but I can really understand how people can feel like the overall speed was misrepresented.

I can fully agree with this post because in this day and age it's all about reviews and videos which many people trust and use to make an informed decision/purchase. I know because I review everything fully. I also purchased my first Raptor after a good friend gave me a test drive in his newly purchased 14 Roush Raptor...flew home two days later and went straight to the dealership.

I've also driven a 4x4 truck my whole life so I know what to expect from a 4x4. I can truly understand how a Raptor has changed what an off-road truck was/has ever been capable of. Now, I've never owned a BMW or really any of the high end European sports cars mentioned in this post. So I can understand if I did all this research on a M series, purchased it and it didn't live up to my expectations because I've never owned that type of vehicle. Along with most reviews/opinions were from BMW enthusiasts, etc. I totally understand, but if you know trucks then in a European sports car terminology the Raptor is the Bugatti of 4x4 trucks!

If you sell your Raptors, then best of luck to you and one thing you were all right about...resell is second to none with these trucks!

Of the my last 4 trucks, the 2010 and 2013 GMC Denali 1500 AWD were the fastest.. 403hp, 5400 pounds. The 2010 was faster for unknown reasons, I left it stock, on a good day it would chirp in AWD. The 2013 I programmed it as seemed down a bit, the Superchips program was not great, even after tinkering.

The 2019 Raptor is 5700 pounds and 450hp. Someone mentioned tire spin. Not in this lifetime.

The Hellcat is getting some work done, to be honest it does not need it but I want the edge, last year I was maintaining a 1.5 car lead bone stock with drag radials and a diff brace (sunroof, rear seat delete). The only reason I say this is they said they can program a 103 hp boost on the Raptor. Time will tell what will happen.

If you can't break the tires loose, something is wrong with the truck.

When you say break the tires loose, are you guys doing that in Sport mode with TC on or off? I am just wondering since I have never had mine spin best I can tell, but I alos don't think I've really pushed mine too hard yet.

With Sport mode/TC on and the tires spin in normal mode, too.

I'm not sure what the issue is others are having with their specific trucks but mine is bone stock and just turned over 9k miles in the 4 months I've owned it.

The real issue is that the Raptor should not cost $75k. It’s not $40k more truck than a Lariat. The pricing a exclusivity is what attracts this segment of buyers. They make the assumption that it is as well built and refined as the other $75k vehicles they have owned.

Raptor is $10k more expensive than a comparable Lariat. Spend some time on the Ford website and learn something.

And not only that, you can get into a Raptor for $10k less than a stripped, base model X5.

Wrong. Try modding a lariat to match a raptor, look at my prior post. You’d probably spend more $$$ just in pets in labor to get it to be equal to the raptor (that means shelling out for the AL flared fenders- it all counts) you lose all your resale & then some (which is part of why the raptor commands its price) & again- no warranty.

This is coming from a die hard GM guy - I wouldn’t touch a regular F150, that’s how much different I consider the Raptor, may as well be a different vehicle entirely as far as I’m concerned. Only other ford truck I’d consider would be a well optioned diesel 2500 & that’d only be if they discounted enough to be a bargain over a GM or Cummins (which they do....for obvious reasons)

And when it comes to any other $70-$75k vehicle, I dunno...everything’s relative. Audi RS5 starts @ what a loaded raptor stickers at, has less power & less torque from V6 (what’s wrong w/ Audi’s crackerjack engineers they can’t surpass what Fords pushing out?) can’t tow shit, can’t haul shit, can’t go off-road, resale Plummets the second you look at it, has less passenger room (isn’t that part of comfort?) could also be viewed as just a packaged/optioned up version of a much lesser model, for every person that looks at Audi as prestigious they should be quickly reminded many of the vehicles are essentially reworked VWs & that’s the parent company anyhow (basically Germany’s Ford right?) just playing devils advocate here.... & personally the way I think IMHO when I see a car like that “cute car bud” - I prefer my sports cars to be the real deal.

It’s all subjective b/c there ISNT an apples to apples comparison w/ the Raptor, & that’s part of the allure.

I think you are very inaccurate in this post. First thing a similarly loaded Lariat is MSRP for $10k less than a Raptor, but no one (I mean no one) buys a Lariat at MSRP. The vast majority of Lariats are sold in the ball park of 10K off of MSRP, while the majority of Raptors (for right now) are still sold at MSRP, making the true delta in price 20k +/-.

Also X5's start at 60k, so unless you are buying a new Raptor for 50k (unicorn Raptor) then your second statement is false as well.

Apples to apples, ie msrp vs msrp on comparable builds, the Raptor is $10k more expensive. Real world, while you can get a Lariat for $10k off, I can get a Raptor for $5k off. So you are right, the difference is closer to $15k. But nothing close the $40k differential "little baller" claimed. And the Raptor buyer gets faaaaaaaaar more truck for the price difference.

As for the unicorn Raptor, the only thing less common than a stripped Raptor is a stripped BMW. Most of small engined X5s run well above $75k and the larger engined ones push toward six-figures.
