Honestly....to me it sounds like a lot of people bought raptors that either don’t actually like trucks, have never owned a truck, have never owned a modded truck, & just bought it cuz it looks cool & is hyped & pricey etc. when maybe you were really looking for an SRT8 Jeep or M/AMG suv....
I’ve owned 4 GM 1/2 tons, most recently being a 2015 loaded up Sierra 6.2 All Terrain w/ bilsteins/2.5” lift 33”s exhaust, etc. all the brands have their issues- trust me. GM also makes the best V8 (when they don’t include the AFM shit of u remove it on your own) - but to compare a regular EB F150 or a 6.2 GMC or hemp ram to a raptor & debate if its “faster” is really dumb (well we probably wouldn’t be including a Ram in the convo if we’re being honest) - BELIEVE me, take ANY other 1/2 ton throw heavy huge ass 35” ATs @ 100 lbs a corner, 4.10s, a 3” lift, widebody kit, a few hundred lbs, & made it as aerodynamic as a brick while boosting its power (any way you’d like) to match the Raptors 450hp/510tq @ the crank & #1 they’ll get shit ass mileage, #2 you’ll have no warranty, #3 you’ll be out the price of all the mods + diminish the resale value simultaneously.
The fact that the raptor performs as it does off-road & on the street as well as being quiet/comfy & composed as it is, w/ all the creature comforts, exclusive/unique styling cues, very trick high end suspension all together w/ a warranty, huge aftermarket support, & great resale/value retention is what makes it special.
The 3.5 in the raptor ain’t the same as a regular F150 either- shares the forged crank/revised piston heads/intake manifold/different compression ratio w/ Ford GT (along w/ other stuff I didn’t list or am not aware of) + has larger turbos than a standard 3.5EB (but smaller than the GTs)
Lastly, that being said, should you want to void that warranty & get a serious bump in power w/ tune & larger FMIC, I’m CERTAIN the Raptor 3.5EB would handle the extra twist more easily & reliably than a standard tuned F150 as well.
Not to mention that the frames already braced/stiffened further over a standard F150, & many other components are beefed up over a regular 1/2 ton as well adding to the Raptors exclusivity & ability to handle more power. Correct me if I’m wrong- but aren’t the a-arms, axles, hubs, diffs, ball joints, bushings, & possibly even driveshaft unique to the Raptor?
So yeah, shit....really making a bit of a case here aren’t I?
So if you bought a raptor to be the fastest kid on the block you probably bought the wrong thing, but that’s ok you can make it fast as hell if ya want & it’ll be fine most likely.
Makes about as much sense as the guys who lift HD diesels & throw 24” chromies w/ mudders on em amiright?
