My truck in shop and dealer isn't giving me loaner. Options?

Seems like getting a loaner is harder and harder. It used to be standard but now not so much. I normally just get someone to pick me up and not worry about it. I can normally work around it or ride my motorcycle for a while

Worst Dealer out there. I have had nothing but Problems with them (service Dept) since I bought my Raptor in December. I now drive 60 miles for all service including warranty because I won't let them touch my Truck!

I hear you on the gap, but my experience with Phil Long Service has been so bad that there is no way in hell they will touch my truck ever again!! The drive to Denver is not bad when you can get good service there.

Lol my wife had a nearly an 80k XC90 until recently. Getting a loaner turned out to be a song and a dance to arrange. Yes except for the first visit for service we always asked ahead for a loaner. But either they weren’t available or did you buy the car from this dealership yada yada yada. It got better as the advisor knew us a little better and what we expected. But goes to show it’s something of a dealer to dealer thing to some extent. Still I never found Volvo great to work with and deal with except for the time we purchased this car. Needless to say my wife loved the car itself.

Now she has a Lincoln and it does come with all the white glove service. Problem now is, it’s a first year model (Aviator) and it came with bugs, free of charge. Yeah like some bad code. Some have been addressed.

Seems like Ford dealers vary greatly, but my now set expectations of them won’t be able to change to soon. So I know what I’m dealing with. I just go prepared.

Thanks for listing that Ford Loaner agreement @FordTechOne I will keep it future handy if the need arises.

I never thought about my Volvo treatment being dealer specific. My dealer treated me REALLY well, except for when they tried to sell me a trans flush at 25,000. When I asked why, because Volvo recommends 100,000 for a fluid change, the Service Advisor told me, "Because it has a turbo". :facepalm: At the time every Volvo had a turbo, either low pressure, or high, that conversation was the last time they tried to pull anything on me.

Just got my rental. A Flex. Ugly as sin but way better than walking. Girl at Enterprise says that everyone complains about Phil Long Chapel Hills and that Phil Long in Motor City is much better. Wish I'd known that, but this is my first Ford since 1985. I'm guessing after all the trouble I caused, I'm going to get the youngest, greenest tech in the place for the repair. Or maybe the biggest screw up. I'm glad it's not a complicated repair. The guy from Ford corporate is going to be tracking the replacement part for me and if it drags out too long, I'm going to ask them to bolt it back together and let me drive my own damn truck. Won't be enough gear oil leaking in a couple of weeks to cause any damage. I've already driven it 5500 miles with the leak and there was still gear oil in the case.

Which Phil Long dealerships have you tried for service?

i have had great service with groove ford on arapahoe. i also drove from the springs to denver to have my truck serviced. also had horrible experiences with phil long.

If you have the premium protection plan - a rental is covered

It's covered under the basic warranty. When my service advisor talked to the guy at corporate, he asked "Who told him about the rental program?" The guy at corporate said "I did." What a piece of work. No skin off his butt whatsoever, and he ***** me around. Unbelievable. I've had bad experiences at car dealers before, but these guys take the cake. I'm starting to wonder if he's just following orders. This guy isn't a rookie, he said he's been working there since 1974. He has to know exactly what he's doing and his manager has to know and approve. I don't understand what they gain by this crap. There's gotta be money on the table somewhere. Maybe they're billing Ford for loaners that they don't loan out. It wouldn't surprise me.

I kinda feel for FMC. They're saddled with these terrible dealers that give customers a bad taste in their mouths about the brand. If I have to drive to Denver for service, I'm going to be hating on Ford the whole way up and the whole way back for failing to enforce a minimum standard of service at dealerships. It's just the way it is. If it says Ford on the door, you've got certain responsibilities. Next time I go to buy a new truck, it's going to factor in. Toyota jacked me around in 1992 by refusing to fix a really annoying problem and I never bought another one. Had they taken care of me, I probably would have. Instead, every time I think about that brand I get pissed off all over again and when I go shopping, I'm eager to find faults. Since all cars have faults, I walk away happy. Sort of.

The whole money thing keeps bugging me. There has to be money in it somewhere. Phil Long has gone out of their way to avoid giving me a loaner, pissed me off in the process, and now has corporate involved. Pissing off customers is bad business. Waving red flags in FMC's face seems like it might be bad business. But Phil Long is successful, they've got dealerships all over. The only source of money in this case is from FMC. So somehow, Phil Long is making more money when they deny customers a loaner or when they successfully put them off for a while than they lose in future business. Enough money to be worth it. When I shopped Raptors, I gave their sales guys a shot at the deal and I was willing to be a little flexible to buy local during the shutdown. It didn't work out, but I wasn't annoyed enough with them that I wouldn't give them another shot in the future. At this point, I am that annoyed. So they lost a potential customer. And I will never go there for service again, ever. So how are they coming out ahead overall? What don't I understand about the business? What's their percentage? Are they ******** Ford, too? Why would Ford put up with it?
