Loaded the truck at 5:00am for a run down to my land in East Texas. Left the house and headed for a fill up. The right turn in for the station is about 100 yards past an intersection. I took off from the light and as I made my right turn into the shopping center / gas station the motor went lifeless. The power steering of coarse was gone and I was in a state of HUH? So as I attempted to turn in fighting the steering I just ran the **** over the flowerbeds on the left side of the drive and came to a stop.

I did notice as this was happening that the display said low oil pressure. Well NO SHIT! The motor was dead! So I flicked the key and it started no issues and had no wrench symbol or anthing to indicate why, what, or ****! So I pulled forwad through the flower bed since I had already made it most of the way through. I got my gas and was on my way.

I know that if a car was in the entry I would have hit them. No question. These trucks are a HEAVY STEER with no assist.

So any ideas? Do I need to let my service guy know about this or not. Just keep an eye out and be ready for if it dies again?

Thats ****** up... When the first escape came out in 01 some of them were just shutting off for no apparent reason. We did tons of testing to figure it out and never really came up with a reason other than the ones that were having the problem were in a area with high tension wires with hundreds of thousands on volts going through them. Turned out that when you went under them the frequency interfered with some of the PCM controls... Go figure... My boss had to go to DC and testify about the problem... It never reoccurred as far as I know on the escape and I am not saying it could be your problem...

HUH! There were many power lines at the intersection but no major power transmission lines. Just for grins be turning and kill the motor. SHIT! You can't steer it. I guess I better get this on paper with the dealer just in case I NAIL someone. CRAP!

Eh, the lines I am tlking about are them big high ones... It was down in SC... diagnosing that shit is so dam hard when its intermittent and throws no codes... If you know for sure you didnt hit the key by accident I would run that thing in and get it on record..

Sorry to hear about the problem BDRAG, but ******* your writing-style cracks me up. :ROFLJest:

If I were in your shoes, I'd let the service manager at your dealer know.

I'd take it to the dealer and at least have it scanned just in case something ended up logging in the pcm history. Wouldn't hurt....
Mine died at 11k ish feet while making a tight maneuver in 4 low. Started right back up and its never died since. A lot of stuff going on at once in these new cars, there's bound to be a loose gremlin on occasion.
