They'll use a sawsall to take your catalytic converter, too. A gal that I work with has a Nissan SUV, and that happened to her. When she took it to have it repaired she was told that it happens all the time. She took it to the dealer and they told her that thieves took all of the converters from a line of vehcicles on their lot in one night. I don't know how to prevent that from happening except with extensive skid plates.

There are a few Catalytic converter cable lock systems out there....use a system of clamps and cables

If you've got an alarm with a bump sensor, it should activate for something like some idiot using a sawzall on your truck. Pretty sure the tailgate would be easy picking though if they were nice and easy with it.

I have been keeping my tailgate locked just for this reason. It sucks that we have to worry about this sort of thing.

Hell I wish someone would come steal this bumper/skid plate that I can't seem to give away. They stole my last truck, but nooooo they don't want this bumper.

Really. I'll be in snowflake, AZ monday. Hmmm now what could I strap it too ?

That or do like they do in other countries. You steal you loose your hand, oh you steal again. Bye bye other hand. Sooner or later it will sink in

If you want it man, say the word. I'll trade it for some good beer or whatever cash you're willing to give for it. I need that thing gone before I leave next week. Hell, you want to give me some extra cash, I'll deliver the sucker!

why the hell would they name a town in a desert "snowflake?"

on with the topic, could you get fingerprints? someone who was able to take the tailgate has to have some kind of record.

That totally sucks. I had a dealer warn me about it and he said to always keep it locked for that very reason. So I have gotten into the habit of keeping it locked. A huge bummer for you even with the insurance coverage!

Yup. I was told to keep my locked too. I used to do it on my F250 because those would get stolen all the time. They were only $900 to replace. I can't imagine $4400. Man I would be pissed.

ouch man... that sucks man..... i have this on mine Amazon.com: McGard 76029 Tailgate Lock: Automotive yeah its basically a hose clamp, but to unscrew it you need a proprietary bit, and everything else is covered with a pretty hard plastic. so yeah they may be able to get it off with some work, but will probably take too much time for their liking, or it will **** up all kinds of paint and make it real easy to identify. when im home im backed up so close to my garage door, they they probably cant even open it far enough to get it off, i hope..... but damn, now i gotta go make sure its locked....
