My tailgate was stolen!

My dad warned me about this shit when I got stationed in AZ. I never really worried about it cause if it's gonna happen its gonna happen. I can only do my best to prevent it

I've lived in areas with high illegal-immigrant populations before and so I knew what to expect from AZ, but I still got surprised when they stole my truck from in front of my house in the middle of the day.

Hell I wish someone would come steal this bumper/skid plate that I can't seem to give away. They stole my last truck, but nooooo they don't want this bumper.

Just bring it down where i work. The laborer was hauling out broken refrigerator and set it outside the building. Walked back inside to the keys for the dumpster (less than 5 minutes). And someone came by loaded it up and took it before he came back out. Of course he thought i was ******** with him and hide it.

The next day they installed down spouts on the building and the next morning they were torn off the building.

Sorry to hear about your tailgate! I have a Bakflip and always keep my tailgate locked but knowing thiefs can take about anything locked or not I did something to make it a little harder for them. Looking at the tailgate locks out there they are not much more then a hose clamp! So I installed a hose clamp around the bottom pivot point and angled the screw to point inward toward the bed so you can get a screw driver to reach it to take it off. I used a small swivel/universal socket to really tighten the shit out of it. If their going to try and get my tail gate they are going to have to really work for it.

That sucks. I always keep mine locked but now thinking of strengthening it. When I was in school, my roomate had his Z71 tail gate stolen north of Houston. We were always on the lookout for it, but never found it.

They'll use a sawsall to take your catalytic converter, too. A gal that I work with has a Nissan SUV, and that happened to her. When she took it to have it repaired she was told that it happens all the time. She took it to the dealer and they told her that thieves took all of the converters from a line of vehcicles on their lot in one night. I don't know how to prevent that from happening except with extensive skid plates.
