Anyone played with the local wifi on the new software, does it actually work now?

I have it works. when the raptor is at home it can connect to my wifi and utilize it for my vehicle update instead of utilizing the data/phone time. In other words, I only see very limited usage for it so I am not quite sure the point. Wait till they put a web browser in it. :)

Installed this on our 2013 explorer last night. It went smoothly and is noticeably faster. I still wish they would get rid of the fade effect when switching sections. When I select climate, I want everything up instantly. However, pressing anything has an instant reaction now.

I tried the Wifi without the phone connected and it wouldn't let me do anything, strange.

Once the phone was connected then I was able to enter my WPA2 password to connect to my router.
But there is nothing you can do once connected. At least as far as the 2013 Escape goes.

I believe the purpose is the take your cellular data and turn you truck/car into a Wifi hot spot.
Would have to go into the manuals to confirm this.

That would be good for people who have unlimited data plan and a rooted/jail break phone. (I don't think anybody on this forum does something like that)
Otherwise turning your phone into a Wifi hot spot legally is costly.

Or use PDAnet from http://www.junefabrics.com/
I never had much success with rooting an Android, there is always something not working correctly.
And I'm sure you Apple guys Know that a jail broke iPhone does not work with the latest OS upgrade.

Just did the update. It took approx 30 minutes and works great so far. I did not have any problems before other than slow touch screen response. It seems to be smoother and quicker. I did have to re connect my phone and reload my wallpapers. I like the updates to the Sirius section, allowing us to see the name of the song and artist from the home screen. My wifi works from my house with no issues.

VA Soldier, what exactly are you doing with the wifi? Other than just connecting.

I haven't had time to research this.

All I did was connect cause I saw the button. I have yet to research what it actually can do. So far unless it is the wifi hot spot I am not sure I see the need.
