Hi all, I finally got my first Raptor, a Gen 2. 2019 with just shy of 100k miles. I've been doing a ton of research here and other resources online over the past month or so, before and after buying it. I figured I dodged a bullet with the one I got. Since it's at 100k with no startup sounds I figure the truck either had the cam phasers already replaced (multiple times?) or the software fix, or both. It's a Feb 2019 so I figure it didn't have the fix implemented upon it being built, but a prior owner probably swapped them after failure. Anyway ... wanted to see if anyone had answers to a few questions I have. Nothing major. It's not only my first Raptor, not only my first Ford, but my first US car and first non-BMW. Deeply in love with it already and can't wait to get more done. Already did graphics, new wheels+tires, rear fender liners, mud flaps, center console fridge and Roush intake!

A few questions, hopefully not too difficult, but haven't been able to diagnose myself yet with the help of the internet + AI, so maybe someone can help lead me in the right direction:
1. I have a strange noise at very low speeds. It's a burr noise, or some kind of low-pitch high-frequency humming noise. It occurs when the truck is either in neutral or in gear, and brakes both being pressed or not being pressed. Only noticeable at very low speeds. I first thought it was brake-related but I don't think it is. It's almost like a vibration from the low end of the truck. I definitely can not capture it on video and I think it can be felt, even just a tiny bit, through the pedals. I wonder if it's some kind of low transfer case fluid issue, or something like that. I also see a bit of oil on the rear diff, maybe near the pinion seal side, as well as some oil seeping towards the front end. I also don't think this noise occurs when the wheel is turned, but I can't verify this fully yet.
2. I hear some minor clicking or chattering noises, which I think I read might be the springs on the turbos. I hear them kind of all the time, cold start or warmed up. Sometimes I hear them and sometimes they're completely silent. I can't figure out how to replicate. I'll try and capture on video next time I hear it happening.
3. Weird issue, but I think might be normal. Sometimes the truck just can't find 4th gear going from 3rd to 4th and just floats there for a second or two. I think this is the only gear shift it does that in. Any recommendations?
4. PRNDM won't light up. Any idea where to start on this?
5. Looks like the truck was in a hail storm at some point. Roof needs some dent removal from it. Looks like windshield was replaced. Auto rain-sensing wipers won't really sense rain anymore. Any way to self-calibrate the sensor?

I am planning on doing a 100k mile service that will include:

1. Transmission fluid change
2. Rear Diff fluid change (and maybe seals replaced if needed)
3. Transfer case fluid change
4. Spark plug change

Any other recommendations, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Really loving the truck, just need to give it some proper TLC at 100k!

here, on frf
morning..........

low pitch high frequency doesnt make sense. its either high or low frequency. where does the noise seem like its coming from?

could be wastegate rattle? exhaust heat shield?

its a 10speed shcwinn transmission. some people have had gear hunting happen

push the button on the side of the shifter

never used rain sensing wipers. i think they suck. maybe forscan?

I thought low pitch high frequency was the best way to describe it but can see how it’s misleading. It’s a low-pitch sound but the oscillation of the sound happens at a short interval, thus a more frequent sound. Like a brrrrr -ing sound. It’s the issue at the top of my list because it’s the most concerning.

Waste gate rattle was my first thought as well

I agree on the rain sensing wipers but sadly there is no low speed interval. The first non-sensing speed is too high for my liking

Thank you for your reply

Congratulations on the new to you Raptor
Take s good look at the tread on the tires, that low speed hum/vibration sounds like something that was coming from my tires a couple of years back created by uneven wear of the tread

Hey sharpie thank you but the tires it had when I got it had low tread and did this. I now have new wheels and tires. Sound only happens between 3mph and 15mph. Not higher or lower

Inspect the front axles for any signed of wear/fluid leak, if all normal I’d suggest swapping out the IWE check valve for the hell of it, one w/ the blue vacuum line piece new design, sometimes the IWE check valve starts to go & you get some weird front end noises from the hubs.

Change the front differential fluid as well even tho it’s a pita to get to, Change the coolant, & change the engine/cabin air filters & you should be good to go for a while.

Then just drive it lol

I’d consider getting a tune on it may help clean up the trans shifts, or in very least remove the negative battery terminal for 15-20 mins then reattach & you’ll go through a new “adaptive relearn” process w/ the trans adjusting to your driving style

These 3.5HOs like regular oil changes, 5k for synthetic like clockwork & they like fresh plugs- I replace em every 40k or so

I put 45k miles on a 2018 before someone T-***** it & I have 82k miles now on my 2020 w/ zero issues just regular maintenance.

What WILL go bad on these trucks & im sure yours will need/does need now if not already done- new/rebuilt shocks & new rear leafs

Thanks! I looked into the noises people are experiencing and it definitely lines up. I'll do some more digging, but thank you for the info!
