One person gets a $1k over invoice deal and all of a sudden it is common? There have been 3 people on this forum that have gotten near invoice deals. Versus the daily posts complaining about dealers who insist on charging ADMs. Which is more common???

Spread between MSRP and Invoice on a $70k truck is $5,600. While real money, I cannot remember the last time a decision to buy or not buy was based on something as small as a 5% difference in price. If money is that tight, you shouldn't be buying a Raptor.

I agree that the deals under MSRP are probably fairly rare and are probably tainted by trade-ins, existing personal or business relationships with a particular dealership, etc... For the typical Joe negotiating a straight up deal on a Raptor, MSRP or slightly less seems to be about as good of a deal as one can expect.

I paid MSRP but had to drive to Peoria Ford in AZ (300 miles from my house). All dealers here including the one I've bought my last 5 trucks from Gosch Ford in Temecula and Hemet, the best they would do is $7,500 over. They said the best deal they had given at that time was MSRP but he was a friend of the owner and they would not give me that same deal. FYI I was just there last week and they still had that truck sitting there, salesmen said they would take $2500 over to move it.

While my circumstance is somewhat unique, note the price paid for the truck, the tax paid and the tag paid, and trade in allowances. I purchased out of state, for what I assumed was MSRP (03/11/2017). I fully expected to pay sales tax to my home state when I went in to pick up tags. Because my paperwork showed that I paid sales tax to another state, as ridiculously low as it was, they could not figure out how to make their computer system apply additional tax. After 15 min of attempting to figure it out, they gave up, handed me my tags and sent me out the door. The price you see there is the price I paid total. And as a side note, I went back to the same state to purchase a boat this past summer because they had a great price on the one I wanted. Same result when I went to register it with my home state.

So you paid tax on the trade difference. That's how it is in most states.

I paid $500 over invoice on my 2017 Screw Avalanche last month. No haggles and it was originally an invoice deal but I had the truck shipped to my local dealer so I agreed to pay $500 for their troubles of calling the other dealership and setting up the transit. Worth it not to drive 2k miles to pick it up.

Seeing the difference between msrp and invoice actually makes me pretty happy with the deal that I got through my local dealer. I ordered a truck Exactly how I want it at Msrp and got 39000 for my trade. 16 platinum f150 with 53000 miles.

I too got a deal for $1k over invoice for 2018 Scab I ordered from a local dealer. I had bought a 2012 from them before so they gave me a good deal. It pays to have a good relationship with the local dealer.

But not in my state. Yes I did do that where I bought the truck, but my state wanted to collect 8%, just could not figure out how to work it in my local office. Luck of the draw on the day I went in. Plus it was March of 2017, the height of dealer markups, I felt like I hit the lottery. Got both of my trades paid off and out the door, tax title tags for MSRP. Which is exactly what I reported to you guys last March. I made money on one trade, which made up the difference for the loss on the other, which reduced my sales tax, which my state could not figure out.
