Alright, those of you with the 91 or 93 PR-X w/trans, how has your experience been? Mine personally, hasn't been good at all. From a 40mph roll, if you get on the throttle, it seems like it tries to drop too many gears, and hits a gear near redline, where it hesitates to move onto the next gear. Does this at 70mph too, and makes the power feel flat and hesitant compared to stock sport mode.

I've contacted MPT, and submitted logs, and thus far all I've gotten is that the trans has to "relearn" your driving style. That's all fine and good, but it's been 350 miles now, and it's still doing this. It also seems to hesitate to downshift at times when you get on the gas quickly, and then it does with a thunk. I'm not knocking MPT, they've been great, and I am waiting on a reply, but I was curious if you guys had seen this.

I expected quick and rapid shifts like stock sport mode, and instead a get a truck that has flat spots at the higher RPMS and shift issues. Sure glad I wagered my warranty on this.

Mine rifles through the gears in Normal and Sport Mode. It did need to relearn after initial flash, but should be done by 350 miles. Send them the logs. Took two versions for me to be happy with the Trans. Actually three. I developed a hard downshift after 5000 miles on my original tune. They sent me an update...hated it and let them know it...latest version is great.

Sent yesterday, along with a video of what it was doing.

So for the most part the consensus is you guys are happy with the 93 prx tune? I’ve been following and reading along deciding on when to pull the trigger on this…

No such issues here.

Thing is like a slingshot

Definitely not having that experience so far. Hoping they update my tune and fix it. I prefer stock w/pedal commander over the shifting/power band the initial tuning has provided.

Should feel PC-ish to you, only better in just about every way. They should get you squared away.

PC was quick off the line in my perception, but rapidly fell off the faster I got. MPT pulls like a freight train until it runs out of gears.

I'm sure they will. I was just curious if anyone else had any initial tune issues.

Stock, sport mode, power commander on Sport 1 pulled harder than my current tune, and shifted better.

Mpt 93-prx

Mine is smoooooth. Like a knife through butter. This is 93PRX in normal mode. I haven't really tried sport that much yet. I used to always drive in sport mode before the tune because it felt like the truck didn't have enough without it. To me it always felt like the truck was trying too hard to get it done if you will. Jerking on the upshifts and downshifts. Now I find myself going very fast, very quickly, with the sensation of very little effort. I embarrassed a couple dodges and a chevy today without even trying. I just loaded the tune and went to town. I haven't sent any data logs. I plan to do a couple 5th gear pulls later this week. Are you watching your N-Guage? Are you getting a lot of Knock? I never tried the procedure below in the link, but it may be worth a try. I emailed MPT today asking about the the SP542 vs the SP534 plugs and they said that they have heard good things but haven't tested them (SP542) themselves for all its worth.

I sent 6 logs, including a 5th gear pull.

Only time I've seen positive KR is uphill at part throttle, and that's +1-+2, under WOT, I've seen plenty of -KR, which apparently means there's timing to be added potentially.

My transmission definitely doesn't shift like butter. The 1-2 shift is a clunk under part throttle and in regular mode. The downshift under WOT feels confused and ends unhanging in a gear near redline which causes the power to flatten. I'm sure they'll get it figured out, I'm just disappointed so far.
