Right, but it verifies that they don’t know what they are doing. They are a tuner and should fix things themselves. Why do they need HP Tuners help???

Because there are inherent things that need to be fixed on the initial cracking of an ECU. My tuner needed to hit up HPtuners about a pressure/boost/timing issue when tuning my truck and he regularly tunes 1000HP+ mustangs.

you should keep your ngauge.

See if you can get a refund on your tunes.

Talk to lars at gearhead and go in that direction.

It’s a little slower. It’s a little safer. It’s incredibly smooth and refined.

Lars daily drives a raptor.

Guy, i am currently running gearhead with the “juiced” pedal. I trust your opinion, where do you think whipple stacks up against gearhead?

It sounds like it’s right up your alley.

let me say this

i had a chipwerke and pc and never had an issue. Moved to the mpt for safety because of what i had read here about the qc stuff.

Mpt has been great on the phone and sent me another version. I have not installed it yet because im too busy. I have to make anothert 3.5 hour drive to phx this thursday night with my wife which would be the perfect time to test except i wont be taking that chance with her in the truck.

As it stands now i have to decide if i just want to return the mpt and forgo tuning entirely or keep taking risks.

I agree. I was pretty angry when i called them and the answer i got was that a small number of people were having this issue. Yet, when i spent nearly a grand that was not mentioned anywhere.

So though they are being great with the help i am certainly irritated.

So let me say this

MPT has been great. The fact that they stop selling to new customers speaks volumes about their integrity.

I will stick around and wait for them to get it fixed.

I have a 17. MPT 91 is aggressive, but very drivable. Transmission is really good. Gearhead is in-between factory and mpt for power, but transmission is perfect. This should be factory tune. Torque is there for drive ability . I had the five star early order tune that never happened. So I never got their tunes. But with mpt and gearhead both on ngauge, no need. With so many out there it is tough to know what to do. Whipple and Livernois sure sound good. The way things are I see no need to try anything else. But a years time may show some winner.

Exactly the same impression I have.

Gearhead feels like an enhanced stock truck.
The transmission feels like a 74 Caddy.

MPT is the seat sucker as I call it...: because it’s the only tune that I’ve tested, and I’ve tested them all, that will suck you into the seat like you’re driving a performance car.

I just installed MPT version 3 and I think for me they're just about perfect now. No twitchiness with the lightest touch of the pedal and much smoother shifting in normal mode. Sport Mode is still VERY aggressive (I asked them for that though) I can't say enough about their customer support because they've been great with me. Answered the phone and my questions quickly and tweaked my tunes in under 24hrs. Can't ask for better service.

For an occasional mild tow I would think you can use the gearhead tune. Not much info on gearhead and towing

Yes

Gearhead is like whipple. One tune does it all.
