In the 3k I've had my truck I've loaded a KTM 1190, a Triumph Tiger Adventure and a Daytona 675/ Boulevard C50 together. I use a 2x12 with a bolt on metal lip.

Easy, no worries. Truck rides great (better?) with the weight, and the bikes fit fine with the gate down.

Geez guys.

Yeah, I've got the same bike, 2013 GSA triple black, and have loaded it into my Ram2500 which sat much taller at the tailgate. Makes a huge difference if you use the angle of driveway to street to help you while loading with ramps.

I used a trifold ATV ramp for years. Worked for loading my 1190. It's easy to walk up/down the ramp with the bike.

Thanks

What a great resource this forum, thanks for all the replies. Very helpful. I will give the Ford ramps a shot this week. The one thing I'm disappointed about is that I lose the cleats for tie downs because of the storage of the ramps (great to have ramp stowage though). But I am assuming the smaller four tie down loops nearer the base of the bed have sufficient load capacity...? But I haven't been able to find if this is true. Do you guys think these are equally suited for the load as the cleated tie downs? Assuming I will use both pairs of front and rear tie downs. Thoughts?

I wouldn't tie a motorcycle to those plastic cleats anyway. The metal tie down loops seem pretty solid, though. That said, I've seen pictures posted by a few folks on here who have installed heavy duty d-rings on the bed floor - I'd probably go that route if I was hauling a motorcycle regularly.

Not mine, but I saw that recently. Loading up a bike is not bad at all, I have done that before my trailer days. Do it once or twice and it will not be awkward at all - don't skimp on the ramps. I used 4; 2 for me and 2 for bike. Especially with a heavy bike rolling up and down, give you and the bike plenty of surface area to move around on.

Have some help. As mentioned before try and reduce the angle. Also with the newer R1200GS the suspension is adjustable so use that to your advantage. If the break over angle is steep perhaps rise the bike to its tallest position. If it's not going to rub anywhere it might be better to lower the bike. I have a GS & would not hesitate to load her up. I know she'll fit fine with the tailgate lowered.

Sorry, this may be too late for you, but no worries. I use aluminum folding ramps (one to walk on and one for the tires) and a removable wheel chock (wood works too)92b9942a0588fab3947e365b2f49b878.jpg5e5232b5ee65cf85f95c80918862d44b.jpg5d654fd70843e1104b01039390f62027.jpg31cd703fa94198c4cca9d43643c350c8.jpg

Good luck with those sketchy short over priced ford ramps... you can get better ramps at harbor freight for under $100. I've loaded my ktm 1190adv in the truck no problem with those, use the same to load my Atv which is a can am renegade and not light at all. Find a hillside or ditch tho and make it easy on yourself

Man, you are ready to SEND IT.
