You need to find the source of the leak. If it turns out that it's blow by from the PCV then a catch can may help. DO NOT get a JLT can. They are not sufficient for a turbocharged engine. You need a dual valve can...not a dual can system...although those are fine...A dual valve system like UPR will catch oil vapor when under boost where the JLT will not.

Yep. I agree. I have the UPR catch can on my '17.

I was against the catch can craze but begrudgingly changed sides after tech @ Ford dealer told me he had torn down the previous gen EB motors w/ 80k on them & would be all coked up w/ carbon deposits. Now- admittedly he had not seen any new EB motors come in yet to get a look inside after some mileage since they added port injection, but he convinced me enough to get the fuel system cleaning service done @ 21k miles & I have a JLT catch can I’m about to install this weekend.

My dealer actually recommended adding one, but specifically said “do not get a double sided one or anything that’s going to require cutting/drilling/modifying existing factory parts or it could effect warranty” the JLT does not require any of that, true “bolt on”

It is the valve covers I’m sure. It wasn’t leaking from the PVC valve it just disappears inside. My leak was just the covers them self (2x).

The warranty can not be voided. Federal law requires manufacturers to honor ALL warranty claims unless they can PROVE that a specific claim is directly related to a modification. And then only that specific claim can be denied. JLT does not catch vapor while under boodt. You have a boosted engine therefore you will only be catchning oil very rarely. Better than nothing I guess...barely... but why not do it right.

that’s not 100% accurate.

Catch cans are illegal (yes, illegal) in California per CARB laws and is enough justification to not honor a warranty claim, at least in CA.

Please read the law before mis staing facts. California law DOES NOT supersede federal law. The state may not allow it and may actually be able to make you remove it but it DOES NOT mean they can void your warranty. Again, THe dealer/Ford must PROVE that the modification you made caused the failure and only a failure DIRECTLY related to that modification can be denied.

Well bright star...actually I spent 2 years WINNING just such a case. It wasn't about having a catch can...wheels in this case. And yeah, it's a real thing and you are wrong about the CARB requirements voiding a vehicle warranty. The federal law applies and supersedes state law. As I mentioned, California can fine you and make you remove the catch can but the manufacturer MUST honor their warranty UNLESS they can PROVE your modification caused the specific failure and then they can only deny that specific claim. The warranty remains in effect for all other claims.

The single valve JLT system is not adequate for the Gen 2 Raptors...or any turbocharged vehicle for that matter.
