I actually believe it's the other way around. The Raptor jumps off the line until the turbo spools, then it gains on the Raptor. However, throw 35's on the EB and now it's a different concept.

Turbo lag is sooooooo 80's. Twin turbo setups have almost no lag.
Some people just hate the name ecoboost, and some people are to stubborn to believe how far turbo tech has come. And to be honest, I'd just buy the cheaper engine if I had the option. Pros and cons with each. But we need to have SDHQ run an Ecoraptor against a stocker and end this conversation. (Or start naming all the cheater reasons the EB smokes the stocker :Good or Bad:)

The main problem with that is those EB Raptor conversions usually have exhaust, intake, and tune. Which doesn't make for a fair comparison. And I haven't driven and EB, so I can't comment on turbo lag (or lack there of). I don't believe the lag is long at all, but it won't be already spooled. My post was simply what I've heard several times from people. It seems half the time the 6.2 takes it, half the times the EB does. But almost all the times I've heard (stock for stock) the Raptor takes the early lead because the turbos aren't quite spooled yet, then the EB either starts catching up but doesn't quite pass by the time they stop racing or it pulls a little passed and wins.

Personally, I don't really care about it. I'd choose the 6.2 everyday, simply because I think it's a better choice if your going to be pushing things hard offroad. This is just my opinion though.

I've drivin both extensively. Dad had a EB and my raptor. The turbo lag is there bud not nearly as bad with the twin system.

The lag is no longer than it physical takes for the 6.2 to rev up so that difference is negligible if non existent.

My response to the EB being modded is that the majority of the guys here have modded their 6.2. In my experience a simple tune on a turbo setup can yield 50hp and torque or better. Just removing the cats is probably another 50. Ford is kinda new to the twin turbo game, but the BMW guys are already putting down 500hp on stock turbos. (Race gas plus **** injection...Probably blow the motor... :) but still 500 to the ground.)

I bet the vast majority of this forums members here have NOT modded the 6.2! Probably less than 20% have any engine mods!

Ok so for an update to the 5.13s put in with the 37 tires....

Got a chance to run a eco boost Screw FX4 F-150 that is running raptor OEM tires, leveling kit maybe minor lift, tuner by 5star, intake, 4.10 gears, and an exhaust cutout as well. This is my buddies truck and really wanted a raptor but couldn't get him talked into it.

So for my truck to make it fair: Scab, no aftermarket intake just a K&N drop in filter, exhaust cutout, 5star tune, 5.13s, 37 Nitto Mud grapplers on DS methods (122+ lbs per), and a 80 lbs front bumper with boatecs on top perch.

Now this is a closed road just FYI for people who want to preach:

Did a single run from a dead stop to 80+ mph.... Looked down after we let off and it was 85 at that time. Both trucks had the A/C on and a single window down, Both tunes at 87 performance, all nannies on with 2wd open rear only, tanks roughly same amount as far as Gallons in the tanks.

So here is how it went:
When we both came off the line mine was almost a full truck a head. His front bumper was almost to my rear bumper. At 40 mph we were almost dead even and by the time we hit 80-90 ish He was about his truck length a head and now my front bumper was even with his rear axle.

Just wanted to inform people about how a couple mods and different strokes for people do. He had lighter tires, intake, no bumper, and not as high or wide as my raptor. I had a shorter cab and lower gears.

Was he surprised.... SHIT he was PISSed his EB didn't just chew me up especially with the 37s. This is a pretty good test of how a set of gears really gets these monsters moving.

Well to you 80%. F the warranty and start modding. You're missing out big time.

I don't like the race above because you both were using fresh tunes. Did the trucks have time to learn the 87 tune? And I will never take a boosted vehicle seriously if it's tuned for anything less than 91 octane. Pretty sure you raced a truck that raced a crippled truck. Max boost was probably turned down a bit.

You guys should race off-road... Then he would really be pissed :D

Stock for stock the 6.2 and the EB will run damn near dead even, that's already been covered in this thread before
