Heres a question. I've read the article a few times and I haven't seen any mention of WB or body configuration requirements. So does that mean someone could pick up an RCSB no option Ram and have a fairly light weight very short Ram Runner?

It should make no difference on body configuration. The suspension & fenders should all be the same with the exception of long bed/short bed

A stripped down standard cab short bed would be best, but then why not start out with a ranger or F150 and build it much cheaper

Because it doesn't have a HEMI !1!1!1!1!1!1!1!1!1!1!1! Sorry had to do it lol. But seriously like Ford has no plans of putting the Ecoboost in a RCSB or anything less then an XLT because they don't want people to build Lightning. I'm sure Dodge doesn't want to warranty a some Robby Gordon wanna be's race truck I could see Dodge only selling this in a ECSB/CCSB body only.

Maybe I have it wrong, but isn't Dodge just selling the parts. If so then it wouldn't make any difference to them what the parts go on

Most the dealership's around Orange County use specialty shops to install all there aftermarket products. A good friend of mine runs a part of OC motorsports and he doesn't have enough time in the day to get all the dealership work done, they just keep on hiring guys and they keep dropping off more work. They have a 21 bay dealership that is full. From my understanding, Dodge will suggest that you take it to shop "X", but your only buying the parts from them so your free to do as you please.

I see what your saying the local dealers do that do with lifted F-150s but the other side of the coin is FRPP prefers that your local Ford dealer install and FRPP Stage whatever handling kit on a Mustang and also this line was at the bottom of the article
The grand total for the entire package with the Stage 2 suspension? $20,659 plus installation fees if your local Mopar shop does the work
Now it can be taken a few ways but I take it as the dealership.

What is FRPP?
I didn't notice the "if your local Mopar shop does the work" part and your most likely right.
Now with that said, there is NO way Im going to allow some tech install a kit of this nature. I'm going to do it myself or have someone who specializes in off road set up the truck. But, most of the guys buying this set up more than likely know's nothing about suspension, but have a phat check book.

@tank, there a pictures of one of the prototypes running around as a reg cab short bed. It is on the previous gen chassis though... as far as I am concerned you will have no problem building a super cheap stripper offroad truck this way. Slightly irrelavent but the power wagon prototype that was co-released with the runner was a reg cab.

There is some pretty trick stuff on this truck but it's a straight up rock crawler. I can't tell with the way the hood is painted but it might be a 1500.
