What's that camera thing its mounted on called? Geoscope somethingor other so it doesn't pick up vibration, but I see what you're getting at here, lol.

I forget what they're called, but they are amazing. A friend built one based on the patent, since they were crazy expensive. You could run down a flight of stairs while filming and the image stayed steady. This was back in the '80s, so patent protection has expired. Digital stabilization is a thing, too. Not to mention all of the crazy editing tools available to a pro. Video used to be the gold standard for evidence. Now it's easy to fake.

The real point is that the camera vehicle is a Gen 1 and it follows the Gen 3 through it all and the camera doesn't shake.

Ok... haha ...now back to the regular your channel

Actually the REAL point is that one could put a gyro-stabilized camera on a 3 legged donkey and the image would appear relatively steady. Zero magic there.... and certainly not Gen 1 centric.......

Just to further beat a dead horse....


A gimbal is a mount that attaches on two side of a device to allow it to swing back and forth. Ovens on a sailboat are gimbal mounted so they stay level as the boat heals over.

A 3D gimbal is a mount that mounts on four sides of a device to allow it to swing in all directions. Think those old school cup holders that could swing freely; like for a motorcycle.

Gyroscopic stabilization is a combination of sensors and motors that detects the input position (the mount point or handle in this case) and keeps the output (the camera in this case) in the same position.

So you are all correct. It is a gyroscopically-stabilized 3D gimbal mount. Most people have just shortened that to "gimbal" because no one makes a non-gyro-stabilized 3D version camera mount.
