Tell them they can keep it and contact their competitor. Someone else will be happy to take (less of) your money. It'll happen enough that they quit playing games, or some sucker with more dollars than sense comes along.

Sford150,
When I went shopping in Dec 2012, I went to my local dealer first and told them of my plans to order a 2013. I told them they did not need to be the cheapest; indeed they could be $500 over my best price I found and I would still buy from them.
I then spent the next 2 1/2 weeks shopping at all of the Ford dealers within 3 hours, and compiled a list of prices from $5,000 over MSRP to $1,000 below MSRP.
What a waste of time.
I went back to my local dealer with the list in my pocket...and they came in better than $500 less than my best price. Needless to say I never pulled the list out. I ordered the truck and 3 months later I was an owner. (Two weeks after I ordered my truck Ford came out with the SE package...with the beadlock capable wheels and the Ruby Red color....).
Two things to remember:
1) The Raptor is no longer SVT; There are no "allocations", every one that wants a Raptor should be able to order one just like a Lariat or King Ranch or Platinum.
2)Dealers want to make money. When you walk out the door they fail to do so. It's your $....you can spend it wherever you want. Make sure that they understand that you are in control of where you spend YOUR money. If they want to do business they will have to accept a reasonable profit rather than tagging on a $5,000 extortion.
Eddie
ps remember that every MSRP sale is $1,500 plus profit.

Lots of us bought trucks $500 - $1000 over invoice. If someone is willing to wait those deals will return. It's your money and you can spend it how ever you want, but to me it's a big waste. No way I'd pay MSRP let alone over for any car or truck.

Internet rejection is the best--people just don't get back to you, or you don't have to get back to them.

I followed someone's advice on here--went to Ford's website, put in my zip code and got a list of every dealer near my house.

Contacted every single one and asked for 1k over invoice.

A couple got back to me for MSRP. So I ended up going with that.

Just spam the hell out of all your local dealers. Someone will get back to you at MSRP or less.

5K over MSRP isn't a bad deal. My dealer quoted me 30K over MSRP. Ive been working them down a bit. I think I can probably get them to 10k over. He said they're supposed to get one of the first trucks in October so I don't mind paying extra.

People like this is why dealers mark up prices. Some people have more money than brains.

30k over MSRP??? And you're working them down from that point?
That's just crazy. It's your money and you can choose how to spend it, I just don't see how you guys have no issues paying so much for this truck. There are several of us, myself included, that paid right at invoice when we ordered our trucks. Albeit, it's not a '17 model, but wow. Again, your money, spend it how you see fit. My mentality is; that's 30k I'd have to put towards mods or fuel or anything else. Good luck.

What did you expect when you shop for a vehicle that isn't out yet? Dealers prey on customers like you. They know that you want it bad simply because you are seeking something that most don't know about. They will bleed every penny out of you they can and they know you will pay it. When a dealer makes you feel lucky to buy a vehicle from them you know that they are giving you the baloney pony. It entertains me to see those that have ordered and feel good about getting MSRP. Myself I will be waiting until 2018 to see how the bugs shake out and pay invoice. I have never paid MSRP for any vehicle and don't plan to change that.

Trying to avoid confusion for other readers: the moral of your story is correct but the Raptor is allocated just like every other Ford product. Dealers have allocations for every product based on their sales and manufacturing capacity. Only so many trucks and cars of all models come out of the factory, so there is an allocation process for all vehicles Ford offers.

If 30 guys walked in and factory ordered a King Ranch F150, it would take several months for them all to come in, and there would not be 30 simultaneous deliveries, even if it was a large dealer with many allocations.

But yeah, Raptor is not a limited-production vehicle.

Both are problems.

  • The ones willing to pay ADM
  • The ones calling all the dealers
This is how supply and demand works. You are letting them know there is a demand. So the cost/value of supply will rise. It's simple economics, but the mentality of majority of society..err sheep...

Supply and demand:

I demanded the dealer didn't mark up the vehicle. They supplied one @MSRP.
