I've read that it's a good thing to clean the outside of the shocks and then apply a good automotive protecive wax. That S100 product is new to me. How does it work?

I just give the shocks a good spray. Its clear so you dont see anything. Places a protective coating over item. Washes off over time, so OK to reapply as required/conditions demand. Its good stuff.

A million Harley owners cant be wrong.

To use the sprays you clean the metal surfaces to be sprayed making sure to get rid of as much surface rust as possible. Then spray everything providing good coverage of all surface metal and allow to dry.

You can use them anywhere on just about anything that is made of metal, from your truck's undercarriage to your pistols and rifles at home.

Yes, This stuff is the best. Can be found at any Harley dealership.

s100.jpg

I was going to get some and run it in my next test but I googled s100, some guy did a test over here, s100 did not do well. In fact wd40 did better and WD is like putting nothing on, so I think we will pass on this one.

Good find. Looks like that ACF-50 is the best. I have been using S100 for years and have always liked the results, but that guys test did not fair well.

I'm always open to a better solution...Now off to find me some ACF50!

I would never use WD-40 as a protectant. That stuff attracts dirt/grime and does not repeal it like a synthetic lubricant.

Follow-up. I just bought 2 cans...

Looks like it's time for a comparison between Amsoil MPHD and ACF-50.

Looking at the samples in the test above, unless I miss my guess, I am willing to wager which one will win in the end... But I will keep an open mind and NOT do the testing myself. That way it can't be called bias...

I am ordering a can of ACF-50 for myself for some testing here as well. First thing I notice is the pricing difference. The ACF-50 retail cost with shipping of one can at the link provided is $27.58 while the Amsoil MPHD retail price with example shipping in Torrance, Ca is $16.02. That is a BIG difference in the price. To justify that, the ACF should last almost twice as long as the Amsoil. We'll see.

---------- Post added at 10:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 AM ----------

Oh, yea, forgot to mention, without shipping the Amsoil is $8.20 per can retail while the ACF-50 is $12.19 per can. If purchasing a case of 12 the cost retail is $146.28 and he Retail cost of the Amsoil is $115.45 and I can save you more than that with wholesale pricing.

Lear Chemical Research ACF-50 Anti-Corrosion Lubricating Compound - MIL-C-81309E : LOW PRICES at SkyGeek.com

Many people use products and like them and they say it works!!! But where is the test that says it works. It took me awhile of rave reviews for the S100 before I hit that test. I was about to buy it.

I think allot of it has to do with the conditions the product needs to perform under. You know just like oil or tires. What conditions are you running them under.

Chris (CLKelly) our Amsoil sponsor has offered to buy the ACF and send it to me. THANKS Chris, saved me $25.00 Thats a big move. I think he wants us to have the very best.

I have bought the LPS3 already as asked for, off the testing thread . http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f36/clear-undercoat-1622/index19.html

Your ACF-50 has been ordered. I am doing my own testing between the two, but I want to make sure that that there is independent unbiased testing available as well. One of the biggest issues with the Amsoil products in general is lack of comparison testing and the need for some to say that the testing that is available from them is biased. This way we take up the slack a little for their lack of comparisons while also offering an unbiased test.

Yes, I am biased, I believe in Amsoil products overall so I have full confidence in the testing turning out well for the MPHD. We will see...
