No doubt that this '17 is a cool truck... But you poke fun at some points that I do believe are true.. I have 4500 miles on mine and am actually regretting taking the truck... I guess you'd call it buyers remorse...
I have had a lot of trucks.. Mostly HD pickups.. though none were capable of very high speed offload like the Raptor is...
The Raptor is like a Range Rover to me..... Very pretty, too much tech that'll be problems in the near future, and reduced work capability...

I didn't order my Raptor, someone else did. Yes it has many things I would have skipped... Most of the "tech" in this truck actually irritate me... This driver alert thing that screams and throws red lights at you almost made me crash... I prefer how my '14 F350 is equipped.... really this is a truck not a minivan..

It's ability to handle bumps at speed is seriously impressive.. I ran a rough road today that has big speed bumps in it...at 45 mph... unheard of in my F350...

But. I don't think this Raptor can even handle a sunday Home Depot run with me... The aluminum body is a complete joke in my opinion... and a 1,000lb payload? On a full size truck... really? I can't put 10 bags of Concrete, some tools and a few bricks in the back? Wait. The blocks will dent the bed to death. Why have a power tailgate if you can't put anything other than some stuffed animals in the bed...?

the fuel economy is pretty impressive. Squirrels don't eat much I guess..

the V6 and 10 speed is "Fast" .. It sure is.

It's amazing that you can really feel the difference when it has 5 people in it... Where did the power go?
The 10 speed is so busy it's like listening to a 12 year old girl talk on the phone...
I'd have much higher opinion of this little truck if it had a 6 speed...
Paddle shifters are worthless on this thing.. I gave them a fair shot... the toggle on the shifter is much more effective.

I think some tires with more sidewall strength and less sidewall height will be a huge benefit to this little truck... these 17s squirm all over the place.. My F350 will turn inside this Raptor on the pavement.

I haven't pulled my boat with the Raptor yet... I am seriously doubting its ability to handle the weight. Should I have to measure the tongue weight on a 22' boat to see if my full size truck can handle it?
Please don't tell me to try that trailer backup knob.. I have two "knobs" between my legs and can back up a trailer like a man... We should all feel insulted that that knob is on the dash of this full size truck.. You know you are thinking the same thing...you know you are.

Yep, and I don't think there is anyone that can get past the sound of this Raptor... Remember how everyone used to laugh at the 16 year old kid with the Honda Civic with the fart can exhaust... No so funny now is it?

Having said all that... Anyone got a low milage '16 4wd F250 Diesel you want to trade for this Raptor?
Why doesn't this truck have that self parallel parking feature you see on cars? (Yes that was a joke)

I hope the truth doesn't hurt too badly boys...
Yes, I too spent $70k on the Raptor.. I wish I hadn't.

Sucks to be you :lol2; I love my truck, and so do all the J1 Jerkers. They all wish they had the better Gen II bad ass...

After driving a Gen2 for a month I noticed the following;

1) it's too fast, much faster than my 2011 Gen1. It is so fast it's sometimes shocking. Also twin turbos are not necessary.

2) it's too damn light and nimble. I find the responsive steering almost sports car like, and my old truck drove like an Oldsmobile on the road.

3) the technology is just too new. Cooled seats, trailer backup system, garage door opener, adaptive cruise control, sync3 with loud audio, lane warning system, 6 aux switches... I mean who needs 6 switches? 4 is enough for me.

4) too damn comfortable. The seats are incredible, cooled and heated, they're just too relaxing. I also find the flat floor in the back confusing, I'd rather have a random subwoofer under the seat. Power tailgate? Lighted box? Who needs it.

5) gas mileage is too good... It's confusing, I am used to filling up much more often so I end up going to the gas station just to hang out. I'd rather go there to fill up.

6) too many looks. I mean who am I Justin Beiber? The truck attracts too much attention it's just too nice looking. I prefer the old school spaceship style with the cheap plastic grill that goes up with the hood. You know?

7) tires too big, shocks too thick. I was happy with smaller tires, I don't need 35s, and I certain don't need the extra awesome shocks.

8) frame won't bend.. just not enough flex in the frame. I'd rather have a frame that "bends" when you hit a big bump, at least the engine won't absorb the shock am I right fellas? The frame in the 2017 is far too strong.

So yeah. The truck is simply too awesome. I'd be willing to straight trade for a newer Gen1.

Just kidding.

On a more serious note:

1. Don't need the extra speed. It's already quick enough. I've done close to 180 km/h on the highway and the truck starts shaking so I'm not going to need to touch 200 in this thing. As for acceleration - are you ef'ing kidding me? Isn't 6 seconds quick enough? This truck isn't meant to be drag racing at traffic lights. For that, I reserve the right to a twin turbo to twin turbo competition. Let me bring out my Cayenne Turbo V8 that will absolutely smoke your POS Ecoboost V6 and then some. Oh, and it handles 260 km/h on the highway like a champ. Because it's meant to. It's a pretty SUV!

2. Again, I don't want a supposedly strong truck to be light and nimble like a 911. For that, let me bring out my Boxster S (actually, I can't anymore since I sold it, but you get the point). Everything has a purpose. When you try to put EVERYTHING into a single product, you get a POS. Ever heard of the saying - jack of all trades? Most people who can afford this truck can usually afford a second vehicle, and they can choose what they want for that - the fastest, the lightest, the slowest, the greenest, the strongest, the most tech capable, etc. Why would I want something that is NONE of it? The steering, I can't comment on as I haven't test driven the 2017 yet.

3. Some of the new tech you mentioned, I wish I did have. Like adaptive cruise control, the new Sync3, the new 400W alternator, 6 switches instead of 4 (although as Aaron mentioned, if it's diminished amperage ratings, then no thanks. I run a bunch of lights that take over and above 20amps). Auto windshield wipers, auto high beams, etc., lane change warnings, etc. are pretty nice too. But I can do with or without - I have 2 other SUVs at home that have it all (a Lexus NX200T and an Infiniti QX80). I do really want that all-around camera though. I love it on my above mentioned SUVs.

4. The new seats are pretty nice (although my 2014 are heated and cooled too - and nearly just as nice). I have a Scab, so the flat floor isn't worth much, but you're right. The subwoofer box is annoying. Power tailgate - come on now, is that really up there in your must haves? If so, then you should be driving around a Range Rover and not a full size truck. The only practical use for it would be that it's probably auto-locking? I wish auto locking tailgates were a factory feature in the 2014. :( Lighted box? It took me a couple of hours work, and I have a MUCH better lighted box than the stock 2017 (6 LEDs front and back rather than 2 at the back). Thank you very much, but no thanks.

5. I do wish my 6.2 gave a better gas mileage. It gives me less miles than my twin-turbo-ed 4.8 V8 on my Cayenne, which I run much harder in city driving! Hell, it's even far worse than my Infiniti's 5.7L V8 (both are similar in size and weight), so I'm not sure what the reason is. But I guess I expected the 6.2 to give me ****** mileage before I bought it - just not as bad as it's been. Oh well. A small price to pay for that awesome engine!

6. 2014 has given me lots of looks already. Incase you don't know, Dubai has a lot of fancy cars, probably the highest supercars per capita ratio in the world. Yet, when I take my Raptor to fancy hotels for dinner (all nice restaurants in Dubai are inside hotels due to the liquor laws), very often I will find my truck parked outside next to Ferraris, McLarens, Lambos, SLSes, etc., by the valet. In retrospect, as the Raptor becomes more common (with the unlimited production), this will change and it'll just become another truck. So yea, I'll keep my 2014 - thanks! As for the grille that goes up with the hood! Wow, it was so good while working on those damn auxiliary lights! I opened the 2017's hood (to check how I could install the grille LEDs), and it was claustrophobic! I wish more vehicles took that grille attached to the hood route.

7. What Aaron said. Bigger shocks, yea, stock would be nice, but I'll just have to spend a little on the upgrade. No biggie.

8. I doubt I'm ever going to run the truck so hard that it'll bend the frame, but that's just me. I enjoy the off-road capabilities it offers, but to an extent where I'm not risking mine or my passenger's safety and lives. And that video where the 'infamous' bent frame occurred - they seem like they're going well over 120 km/h on a dirt road. That's just stupid. A small obstacle could have been catastrophic at that speed.

Oh, and I enjoyed reading your post - it was a good morning laugh! :D But I'll still keep my 2014 till they introduce an NA V8 in the Rator. If they don't, well, then ride till it dies. For all the new tech which I wish I had, I'll stick to the Lexuses, Infinities, Range Rovers, Mercedes, Porsches etc. They're pretty SUVs for a reason.

Apologies for lengthening an already long post, but the more I think about it, the more you can just keep that aluminum body, V6 engine, 10 speed transmission and soccer-mom tech. Just give me the interior. I love what they've done with the space management in the cabin - far far better than the gen1s. Back when I was looking around for a truck, the only thing that had me going for a RAM 1500 or a Sierra Denali (since I do a lot of DDing in the truck) was the better interiors than the Raptor. But the new generation F-150s have really outdone themselves.

Yes. Gen 1 interiors are real down market with the chintzy plastic. Gen 2s are nicer.

Across the board, all American cars have had serious interior upgrades just in the last 2-3 years. Ever sit in an old C6 Vette and then sit inside a C7? Similar story to previous gen Ford versus current gen.

I've read that G2 is also absent rear-facing side mirror blinkers and features a high tech. plastic oil pan.

Yes, these are small details, they may matter to some. And these real world buyers experience stories will continue, for a small percentage of owners.

G2 is a masterpiece of engineering, no doubt, just not for everyone. I personally prefer 6 gears over 10. But that's not to say the 10 speed is overly Complex, because without it the EcoBeasts performance isn't maximized. Result=The motor package is a bad **** and blows everyone away in the 1/4 mile.
