DrDjin,
NY has a little...6 million acres...state park called the Adirondacks; Green Mountains in VT, Berkshires in MA, White Mtns in NH, as well as trails in CT, RI, and NJ. Maine has hundreds of miles of maintained logging roads.
Unfortunately no wide open spaces like out west. Here on eastern LI, NY we have hundreds of miles of beaches. During the winters they are not frequently patrolled, and we can hoon as much as we dare...keeping in mind that the local town is run by liberals that feel the government knows best what one should do....Indeed the local town spent over $100,000.00 sterilizing local does so that they wouldn't eat the garden flowers; nevermind that hunters would have PAID for the opportunity to cull the local herds!
So lots of offroad opportunities but little for high speed hijinks.

Eddie

Hello Ditchplains, I'm in Fort Lee, NJ, just outside of G.Washington Br. so technically, I'm in NYC.
I started this thread hoping that someone will know of a private or public land that is a lot closer than Adirondecks or MA. As for dealing with Liberals, my path is very simple, "AVOID". No point to spending time educating them that those others who are not voicing themselves have rights too.

The Northeast is a fairly large. Where or what state are you from and looking to wheel? May help us point you in the right direction.

There just so happens to be a part of this forum dedicated to each geographic region. You may want to start there.

I routinely travel from NYC to Boston, that's the reason why I used NE.
Preferably, along the i-95 corridor.

There is a regular off road style event at Phoenix off road park this Saturday and Sunday. I'm pretty sure he has about 50 miles of trails to wheel on. It has Camping over night too.

The east coast is a little sparse on events these days. Great Lakes Raptor Excursions used to do events but the majority are invite only now. They still do snoball though. The only place I am currently aware of that has a specific Raptor set up is Phoenix off road. What kind of wheeling are you looking to do? There are a lot of show and shine opportunities in the east if you just want to be social. If you are on Facebook check out some of the group's for specific meet ups. If you are ok with rocks and slow speed stuff then check out the geographic sections on the forum for ideas.

Famous last words, "if you hit it faster it will smooth out some!"

Coal mining company in Reading that sells access permits to its unused land. $175 for the year. I just got my permit. Never been before so I can't tell you anything that isn't on their website. Looks like some wide open spaces, wooded trails, mud pits and hill climbs.

If I don't get lazy about it, I'm going to check it out on Christmas Day, I suspect it'll be pretty empty. Otherwise, New Years weekend.
