Looking for best tune on my new '19

I've been running the MPT tune for over a year now. Can't say enough good things about MPT. I've been very happy with my tune.

Not true. It has been available for several weeks. I had their tune on my 2017 and it got to the point that I couldn't stand to drive it stock for a day or two prior to taking it into the dealership for work. Their transmission tuning had the motor revving higher than I liked, so I ultimately settled on their 93 PRX with stock transmission tuning. I will be picking up my 2019 in a few days and I will have it running an MPT tune as soon as humanly possible.

I now see the date of you post, but no need for the negative tone. Let’s make the world better, not worse. I was simply trying to help somebody.

I had the Livernois tune for my 2013 f150 ecoboost and it was a good tune and good company for sure. They are a good company from my experience. I had their 93 tune that I mostly ran, air intake, spark plugs, and thermostat. Even after a 6" lift and 35's my truck was way faster. Now I have a 2018 raptor and used MPT which in my opinion turned my raptor into a whole different truck!!! It now feels like a high performance muscle car/truck on the road and on the trails it's amazing! I have actually taken it back to stock a couple times and shown some friends the difference it is that impressive. Also don't listen to the haters I had my truck about 6 months before tuning it I just couldn't wait when you know it can truly unlock the potential. I just take the tune off every time I go to the dealers which I know if they looked they could still see it but they have never questioned me but I will still wait to do the down pipes I want and intercooler till after my warranty is up.

Gearhead.

It was between them & MPT for me (or livernois but they came out late & didn’t have trans tuning immediately) & I am VERY picky when it comes to performance mods.

In a nutshell my raptor w/ a gearhead tune drives exactly as you’d imagine a stock one w/ an extra 100hp/tq & better trans tuning would from the factory. Doesn’t feel “modified” just feels much faster/smoother & more responsive.

Their trans tuning is buttery smooth & slick shifting. I’d have a tough time believing another company puts out better/smoother tranny files.

My main goal was reliability & daily driver manners w/ more power & ability to “set it & forget it”- my understanding w/ MPT & some other s they push the boost & A/F mix close to stock limits & also require the highest octane- even a drop from 93 to 91 can cause issues on tunes like this, as can the occasional stale tank of gas or in the even of a real screwup your wife accidentally filling up w/ 87 and/or being on a road trip forgot the device running a 93prx tune & no 93 in sight - better hope you find some octane booster. Gearhead’s tunes have an octane “autoadjust” feature to compensate in case you have to run 87 or 89 etc.

Geeze, don't you want to drive it a while, break it in, and get to know it before you decide to void your warranty?

Funny thing to me the way I see it a custom tune that can be removed via handheld much better “risk vs reward” “performance mod” vs adding a CAI or catch can both of which are $400+ & do jack shit for performance but cause your vehicle to throw CELs, hack it up (in the case of a catch can) & are just as if not more likely to cause warranty issues b/c of the fact they do throw codes, are plainly visible to the dealer, & @ the end of the day you risk that & spend $$$ but really get nothing tangible in terms of performance out of it.

Same goes for stuff like turbo adapters/gigantic FMICs- except they do add some performance improvement.

They only concern I had w/ getting tuned was if I started to have a cam phaser issue, however based on research seems like I could swap over to the stock tune thee first time I hear any sign of cam phaser problems- drive the thing w/ stock tune for a month+ while the phaser issue gets worse, bring to dealer for diagnosis & continue driving on stock tune for hell maybe another month before you actually get in for the repairs/parts & @ that point seriously doubt they’d really dig so far back through ignition cycles/ecm history to track a flash down.

Ran MPT/91 on my '18 for at least 1 year. Took it off the other day for a service call. I would sell this truck tomorrow if I had to drive it stock. What a difference. I had forgotten how good the MPT tune was. I did not reset the KAM after tune removal...that might help but it is sluggish and throttle response is a joke. My son asked why the truck was driving different. He said it was making a lot of engine noise but wasn't really accelerating or pushing him into the seat. There is no better "butt dyno" than a passenger who is familiar with your car well enough to know when something good or bad has changed without even telling them first.
