First off, who was the dumb ************ that traded in the Raptor for a dodge? Second, these trucks can be used and abused. Follow the advice already given. Look for any exterior signs of abuse too. Sagging bumpers, missing lights, big scrapes, chunks of tire missing, inspect the interior and see if its clean or if it has any funky smells, tears in the leather. Stuff like that.

I think you posted on F15DY BOYS the other day. Glad you made it over here! Other folks here have posted some great info for you.

Keep us posted on what you decide!

The shocks are likely needing a rebuild with 75k. Depending on your location, this could take a few weeks without your truck. If you buy it plan ahead and order a new set of 3.0's, and some Deavers while your at it. At that price you may have some room for mods.

Throw them in the trash and get 3.0s front and rear.

Where would you recommend getting the 3.0's from? This will be the first truck I've owned that had something other than OEM type shocks... "fanciest" I've had on anything was a set of Bilstein's on my FX4.

Thanks for the info - when I looked over it last week everything looked to be in great shape. The only thing that I saw from a visual inspection was on the passenger side of the front bumper, it seemed to be sagging a very small amount. It looks like the previous owner may have rubbed up against a parking lot pole or something of that sort. Either way - it will be thoroughly checked at a shop that is not affiliated with the dealership before they get any of my money.

Yep - that was me! I actually just got back from selling my 2005 FX4 about 30 minutes ago. Now I'm on the hunt for my Raptor!

Thanks for the info - I may look into that. I've always done a lot of work on my own vehicles so this may be something I'd be willing to try. Looks like the initial investment of the tools to do the work is the biggest downfall of that option.

ROC can do them for $200 + shipping... (great deal)

Raptor Community - Stock 2.5 shock rebuild exchange program.

An upgrade to a 3.0 shock is always an option but that is very expensive vs. rebuild.

Thanks for the info! $200 for all 4 + shipping?! That sounds too good to be true! lol The only bad thing about that option is that I'd have to have my truck sitting on jack stands until they come back to me.

I'd look for one from an original adult owner, private seller that has Street King written all over it....who knows where that dealership bought it from.

Looks like that's what this one was. Looking at the Carfax it was habitually brought in for maintenance and oil changes at a Ford dealership, as well all scheduled maintenance intervals. The dealer mentioned that the previous owner traded it in on an SRT8 Challenger.

The wife isn't going to be stoked about me buying parts for a truck as soon as I get it home - is there a negative impact of waiting to rebuild/replace the shocks when funds allow or is it just a performance thing?

Nope. If you look again you will see an exchange option. Again you pay the shipping but ROC sends you a set of Fox shocks to use while yours are being rebuilt.

I honestly don't know the cost on shipping but I don't think it's all that bad even if you are on the wrong side of the country from ROC in Sacramento, CA.

For 3.0 upgrades...

@Jimbo @2014RubyRed and you can get those two in to a knife fight real easy.
